Key Features:
- Piston Type & Oil-less: Maintenance-free operation.
- Auto Start/Stop: Automatically starts at 3 bar (43 PSI) and stops at 4 bar (58 PSI) for consistent pressure.
- Pressure Regulator with Gauge: Allows precise control and monitoring of air pressure.
- Water Trap: Filters moisture from the air, crucial for clean airbrushing.
- Low Noise: Operates at ≤ 50db.
- Portable Design: Equipped with an easy-carry handle.
- Thermally Protected: Prevents overheating.
- Suction Feet: Provides stability and reduces vibration.
4. Setup and Initial Operation
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the compressor from its packaging. Inspect for any damage.

Figure 4.1: The compressor securely packed in its protective foam casing.
- Placement: Place the compressor on a stable, flat surface. The rubber feet will help secure it and reduce vibration. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for ventilation.
- Connect Airbrush Hose: Connect your airbrush hose to the 1/8 BSP connection on the compressor's air outlet. Ensure a secure, leak-free connection.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cable into a grounded 110-120V/60Hz electrical outlet.
- Initial Power On: Press the power switch to turn on the compressor. The compressor will run until it reaches its auto-stop pressure (4 bar / 58 PSI).
- Adjusting Pressure: To adjust the working pressure, pull up the black knob on the pressure regulator and rotate it clockwise to increase pressure or counter-clockwise to decrease pressure. Push the knob down to lock the setting. Monitor the pressure gauge for the desired reading.
5. Operating Instructions
Once set up, operating the TIMBERTECH AS18-2 is straightforward.
- Prepare Airbrush: Fill your airbrush with the desired medium (paint, ink, etc.) and ensure it is clean and ready for use.
- Activate Compressor: Turn on the compressor using the power switch. It will build pressure and then stop automatically.
- Begin Airbrushing: When you press the trigger on your airbrush, the compressor will automatically start to supply air. When you release the trigger, the compressor will stop once the pressure reaches the auto-stop threshold. This auto start/stop feature conserves energy and reduces noise.
- Monitor Pressure: Regularly check the pressure gauge to ensure the desired working pressure is maintained. Adjust as needed using the regulator knob.
- Continuous Operation: For continuous airflow, the compressor will run as long as air is being drawn. It is designed for continuous working.
- After Use: Turn off the compressor using the power switch. Disconnect the airbrush hose and clean your airbrush thoroughly.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your compressor.
- Drain Water Trap: The water trap collects moisture from the air. Periodically drain the accumulated water by pressing the button at the bottom of the water trap. Do not press this drain button when the machine is working or when the pressure cutoff stops.

Figure 6.1: The water trap with an arrow indicating the drain button. Ensure the compressor is off and depressurized before draining.
- Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the compressor with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Air Filter: The compressor has an air filter. Check it periodically and clean or replace if it appears dirty or clogged. Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for filter maintenance.
- Storage: Store the compressor in a clean, dry place when not in use.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your compressor.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Compressor does not start. | No power; Power switch off; Overheat protection activated. | Check power connection and outlet; Ensure power switch is ON; Allow compressor to cool down if it was running for a long period. |
| Low or no air pressure. | Airbrush hose leak; Regulator knob not set correctly; Clogged airbrush; Compressor malfunction. | Check all connections for leaks; Adjust pressure regulator; Clean airbrush; Contact customer support if issue persists. |
| Compressor runs continuously. | Air leak in system; Auto-stop function malfunction. | Check all connections (hose, airbrush) for leaks; Ensure regulator knob is pushed down to lock; Contact customer support. |
| Excessive noise or vibration. | Unstable surface; Loose components. | Place on a stable, flat surface; Check for any loose parts and tighten if safe to do so. |
| Water in air output. | Water trap full. | Drain the water trap. |
