2. Important Safety Information

  • Install this range hood only in accordance with the instructions provided in this manual.

4. Setup and Installation

The Awoco split insert range hood consists of two main components: the hood insert unit and the blower unit. The blower unit is designed to be installed in the attic to minimize operational noise in the kitchen.

4.1 Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Verify that you have received both the hood unit and the blower unit packages.
  • Ensure sufficient space in your attic for the blower unit and ductwork.
  • Confirm your existing venting duct is a 6-inch round top vent. Ducts are not included.
  • Gather necessary tools for installation (e.g., drill, screwdriver, measuring tape, level).

  1. Prepare the Opening: Create the wood hood cut-out opening according to the specified dimensions (26-1/4" W x 10-1/4" D).
  2. Install Blower Unit: Position the blower unit in the attic directly above the hood unit's location. Ensure it is securely mounted and properly aligned with the ducting path.
  3. Connect Ductwork: Connect the 6-inch round ducting from the hood unit to the blower unit, and then from the blower unit to the outside vent. Ensure all connections are sealed to prevent air leaks.
  4. Electrical Connection: Connect the 12 ft split control cord from the hood unit to the blower unit. The blower unit has a 35" power cord with a 110V plug. Ensure power is disconnected before making electrical connections.
  5. Install Hood Unit: Carefully insert the hood unit into the prepared opening in the wood hood. Secure it in place using appropriate fasteners.

CAUTION: This range hood is NOT compatible with wall switch controls or remote controls.

5. Operation

The Awoco range hood is operated via the electronic buttons located on the sloped control panel of the hood insert unit.

5.1 Fan Speed Control

The range hood features 4 fan speeds to accommodate various cooking needs. Press the corresponding button on the control panel to select your desired speed:

  • Speed 1 (Low): For light cooking, simmering, or maintaining air quality. (Approx. 200 CFM, 38 dB / 2.0 sones)
  • Speed 2 (Medium-Low): For everyday cooking. (Approx. 400 CFM)
  • Speed 3 (Medium-High): For moderate cooking with more steam or odors. (Approx. 600 CFM)
  • Speed 4 (High): For heavy cooking, frying, or when maximum ventilation is required. (Up to 800 CFM, 50 dB / 4.5 sones)

5.2 LED Lights

Press the light button on the control panel to turn the LED lights on or off. The 3W cold bright LED lights provide ample illumination for your cooking surface.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Awoco range hood.

6.1 Cleaning Mesh Filters

The 4-layer mesh filters are designed to trap grease and should be cleaned regularly (ideally every 3-4 weeks, depending on cooking frequency).

  1. Ensure the range hood is turned off and power is disconnected.
  2. Locate the built-in latches on the mesh filters. Push the latch to release and remove the filters.
  3. The mesh filters are dishwasher safe. Place them in your dishwasher for thorough cleaning.
  4. Alternatively, wash them by hand using hot water and a non-abrasive detergent.
  5. Allow the filters to dry completely before re-installing them.
  6. Re-insert the filters by aligning them and pushing until the latch clicks into place.

6.2 Cleaning Stainless Steel Surfaces

Clean the stainless steel surfaces with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. Always wipe in the direction of the grain to avoid scratching. Do not use abrasive pads or cleaners containing bleach.
