4. Setup
4.1 Placement
The placement of your subwoofer significantly impacts its performance. For optimal bass response, it is recommended to place the subwoofer in a corner of the room. This utilizes the room's acoustics to reinforce bass output. Experiment with different positions to find the best sound for your listening environment.

4.2 Connections
The Klipsch Sub-100 must be connected to an AV receiver, processor, or pre-amplifier. Use the LFE (Low-Frequency Effects) or Line In connections on the back panel of the subwoofer.
- Power Off: Ensure your AV receiver and the subwoofer are powered off before making any connections.
- Connect to Receiver: Connect an RCA cable (not included) from the LFE output or Subwoofer Pre-Out on your AV receiver to the LFE/LINE IN input on the Klipsch Sub-100. If your receiver has separate Left and Right pre-outs for the subwoofer, use both L and R inputs on the subwoofer.
- Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cord to the subwoofer's power input and then to a suitable wall outlet.

5. Operating Instructions
Once connected, you can power on your subwoofer and adjust its settings for optimal performance.
5.1 Power On/Off
The Sub-100 features an auto-on/off function. When the power switch is set to 'ON AUTO', the subwoofer will automatically power on when an audio signal is detected and enter standby mode after a period of inactivity. You can also manually switch it 'OFF'.
5.2 Controls
The back panel of the subwoofer provides controls for fine-tuning its output:
- GAIN (Volume): Adjusts the overall output level of the subwoofer. Start with a low setting and gradually increase until the bass blends seamlessly with your main speakers.
- LOW-PASS (Crossover): This control sets the upper frequency limit for the subwoofer. Frequencies above this setting will not be reproduced by the subwoofer. Adjust this to match the low-frequency capabilities of your main speakers. A common starting point is 80Hz. If using the LFE input from an AV receiver, this control is typically bypassed as the receiver manages the crossover.
- PHASE (0°/180°): This switch helps to acoustically match the subwoofer's output with your main speakers. If the bass sounds weak or hollow, try flipping the phase switch. The correct setting will result in the most impactful and coherent bass.
6. Maintenance
The Klipsch Sub-100 is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Use a dry, soft cloth to clean the cabinet. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals.
- Grille: The subwoofer features a strong, flexible, and removable grille. If cleaning the woofer cone is necessary, gently remove the grille. Ensure the grille is securely reattached after cleaning.
- Placement: Avoid placing the subwoofer in direct sunlight or near sources of excessive heat or moisture.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Klipsch Sub-100, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound from subwoofer | Power cord not connected; Subwoofer not powered on; Input cable loose or faulty; Receiver settings incorrect; Gain too low. | Check power connections; Ensure power switch is ON AUTO or ON; Re-seat or replace input cable; Verify subwoofer output is enabled on receiver; Increase GAIN control. |
| Distorted or muddy bass | Gain too high; Improper crossover setting; Poor placement; Phase mismatch. | Reduce GAIN; Adjust LOW-PASS frequency; Experiment with subwoofer placement; Toggle PHASE switch (0°/180°). |
| Subwoofer hums | Ground loop; Faulty cable. | Try plugging the subwoofer into a different electrical outlet; Use a ground loop isolator; Replace input cable. |
| Subwoofer does not turn on automatically | No audio signal; Low input signal. | Ensure audio is playing; Increase volume on receiver; Check if the power switch is set to 'ON AUTO'. |
