6. Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance. Please follow these steps carefully.
6.1 Planning and Preparation
- Choose Location: Select a suitable location in your ceiling or wall, ensuring there are no obstructions (e.g., electrical wires, plumbing, studs) behind the mounting surface.
- Power Source: Identify a power source for the amplifier. The amplifier requires a power adapter.
- Tools Required: Pencil, measuring tape, drywall saw or utility knife, wire strippers, screwdriver, safety glasses.
6.2 Cutting the Mounting Hole
- Using the provided template (if available) or the specified cut-out diameter (5.7 inches / 14.5 cm), mark the desired location on your ceiling or wall.
- Carefully cut the hole using a drywall saw or utility knife. Ensure the cut is clean and precise.

6.3 Wiring the Speakers
- Run the speaker wires from the amplifier location to each speaker opening. Ensure sufficient length for connections.
- Strip approximately 1/2 inch (1.2 cm) of insulation from the ends of the speaker wires.
- Connect the speaker wires to the terminals on the back of each passive speaker. Match the positive (+) wire (typically red or marked) to the red terminal and the negative (-) wire (typically black or unmarked) to the black terminal.
- Connect the other ends of the speaker wires to the corresponding speaker output terminals on the amplifier box (SPKL and SPKR). Ensure correct polarity.
- Connect the power adapter to the "Power Jack" input on the amplifier box.

6.4 Mounting the Speakers
- Insert the speaker into the cut-out hole.
- Tighten the mounting screws (usually located on the front baffle) to engage the mounting clamps. These clamps will pivot outwards and secure the speaker firmly to the wall or ceiling. Do not overtighten.
- Once secured, attach the magnetic grille to the speaker. The grilles are paintable to match your decor.

- On your smartphone, tablet, or other Bluetooth-enabled device, navigate to the Bluetooth settings.
- Search for available devices. You should see "Herdio" or a similar identifier.
- Select the Herdio device to pair. Once paired, you will hear a confirmation tone or see an indicator on your device.
- Your device is now connected, and audio will play through the ceiling speakers.

- Volume Control: Adjust the volume directly from your connected Bluetooth device (smartphone, tablet, etc.).
- Audio Playback: Once paired, simply play audio from your device, and it will be transmitted to the speakers.
- Automatic Reconnection: The amplifier will attempt to reconnect to the last paired device when powered on.
9. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the speaker grilles and surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Grille Removal: The magnetic grilles can be easily removed for cleaning or painting. Gently pull them off.
