5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Making Espresso
- Ensure the water tank is filled.
- Select the appropriate filter basket (1-shot or 2-shot) and place it in the portafilter.
- Grind fresh coffee beans to a fine consistency suitable for espresso. Fill the filter basket with ground coffee.
- Tamp the coffee firmly and evenly using the provided tamper. Wipe any excess grounds from the rim of the portafilter.
- Insert the portafilter into the group head and twist firmly to lock it into place.
- Place pre-warmed espresso cups under the portafilter spouts.
- Press the 1-cup or 2-cup button for automatic dosing, or press and hold the button to manually control the shot volume.
- The machine will pre-infuse and then extract the espresso. The flow will stop automatically for pre-programmed shots.
5.2 Frothing Milk
The powerful pivoting steam wand produces velvety micro-foam milk, perfect for lattes, flat whites, and cappuccinos.
- Fill the stainless steel milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy).
- Turn the control dial to the steam icon to activate the steam wand. Wait for the steam light to become solid.
- Purge the steam wand by briefly opening the steam valve to release any condensed water. Close the valve.
- Insert the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk. Angle the pitcher slightly.
- Open the steam valve fully. Lower the pitcher slightly to introduce air, creating foam.
- Once desired foam is achieved, raise the pitcher to submerge the wand deeper, heating the milk to the desired temperature (around 60-65°C or 140-150°F).
- Close the steam valve and remove the pitcher. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth.
5.3 Automatic Dosing
The pre-programmed automatic dosing offers single or double shots. You can also customize the volume to your preference by pressing and holding the brew button until the desired volume is reached, then releasing it. The machine will remember this setting for future use.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove spent coffee grounds and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under hot water.
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily or when the 'Full' indicator appears.
- Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Purge the wand briefly to clear any milk residue from inside.
- Group Head: Use a damp cloth to wipe the group head and shower screen after each use.
6.2 Descaling
Regular descaling is essential to maintain machine performance and extend its lifespan. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage. Refer to the indicator light or descale every 2-3 months.
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions.
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
- Place a large container under the group head and steam wand.
- Follow the specific descaling procedure outlined in the full instruction manual (usually involves running the solution through the brew cycle and steam wand).
- Rinse the machine thoroughly by running several cycles with fresh water after descaling.
7. Troubleshooting
