Briidea Hi-Lo Sump Pump Controller User Manual

Model: B07VNPY3HQ

1. Introduction

The Briidea Hi-Lo Pump Controller is an advanced, universal electronic dual-float switch designed for use with various sump pumps and utility pumps. This controller offers precise water level management, allowing users to set custom turn-on and turn-off points for their pumps, ranging from 0.5 inches to 12 feet.

Unlike traditional dual-float switches, the Briidea controller's two sensors provide highly adjustable control, optimizing pump run-time, conserving energy, and extending the pump's service life. Its robust design features no moving parts, ensuring reliability even in water with debris or high mineral content.

Key features include:

  • Compatibility with all sump and utility pump applications (under 1HP).
  • Adjustable dual float switch for precise pump activation/deactivation from 0.5 inches to 20 feet.
  • Durable 304 stainless steel sensors, resistant to corrosion and requiring no cleaning.
  • Reliable design with no mechanical moving parts, ensuring long life and stable operation.
  • Smart button for manual pump control and an alarm for malfunction detection.

2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing or operating the Briidea Hi-Lo Sump Pump Controller. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • Electrical Hazard: Ensure the power supply is disconnected before installation or maintenance. This device operates on 120V/220V AC.
  • Grounding: A good ground reference is required for proper operation. Ensure all electrical connections are properly grounded according to local electrical codes.
  • Water Exposure: Do not immerse the control module in water. Only the float sensors are designed for water submersion.
  • Overload Protection: The controller is rated for 1HP, 16 amps. Do not exceed these limits.
  • Professional Installation: If you are unsure about any part of the installation process, consult a qualified electrician or plumber.

3. Product Overview

The Briidea Hi-Lo Sump Pump Controller consists of a main control unit and two integrated float sensors. The control unit plugs into a standard electrical outlet, and your pump plugs into the control unit. The sensors are submerged in the water to detect levels.

4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your Briidea Hi-Lo Sump Pump Controller. Ensure the power is off before beginning installation.

4.1 Sensor Placement

The two sensors determine the pump's activation and deactivation points. The distance between the sensors dictates the water level differential for pump operation. The controller allows for highly adjustable sensor placement to achieve desired on/off levels, from 0.5 inches to 20 feet.

  • Position the lower sensor at the desired pump turn-off level.
  • Position the upper sensor at the desired pump turn-on level.
  • Ensure sensors are securely fastened and will not move during operation.
  • For applications with water containing debris or high mineral content, special installation considerations may be required to ensure sensor accuracy. Refer to advanced installation guides if applicable.

4.2 Electrical Connection

  1. Plug the Briidea Hi-Lo Sump Pump Controller into a grounded electrical outlet (120V/220V AC).
  2. Plug your sump pump or utility pump into the receptacle on the Briidea controller.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure and free from moisture.

5. Operation

The Briidea Hi-Lo Sump Pump Controller operates based on the water levels detected by its two sensors. The control module turns the pump on and off according to the sensor settings.

5.1 Automatic Operation Sequence

  1. Water Below Both Sensors: When the water level is below both the low and high sensors, the pump remains off.
  2. Water Above Low Sensor, Below High Sensor: If the water level rises above the low sensor but has not yet reached the high sensor, the pump remains off.
  3. Water Reaches High Sensor: When the water level reaches the high sensor, the control module activates the pump, and it begins to drain water.
  4. Water Between Sensors: The pump continues to run while the water level is between the high and low sensors.
  5. Water Drops Below Low Sensor: Once the water level drops below the low (black) sensor, the control module deactivates the pump, and it turns off.

5.2 Manual Control (Smart Button)

The controller features a smart button for manual operation. This allows you to manually turn the pump on or off as needed, overriding the automatic sensor control temporarily. Refer to Figure 3.3 for the location of the Smart Button.

6. Maintenance

The Briidea Hi-Lo Sump Pump Controller is designed for minimal maintenance due to its robust construction and lack of moving parts in the pit.

  • Sensor Cleaning: The 304 stainless steel sensors are highly corrosion-resistant and are designed to work effectively even in water with debris or high mineral content. They typically do not require cleaning.
  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the cables and connections for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Ensure the control unit is kept dry and free from dust.
  • Functionality Check: Occasionally test the pump's operation by manually adding water to the sump pit to ensure the sensors activate and deactivate the pump correctly.

7. Troubleshooting

The Briidea Hi-Lo Sump Pump Controller includes an alarm feature to alert you to potential issues. This section provides guidance on common problems.

  • Alarm Sounds: If the alarm sounds, it indicates that the pump is not working correctly.
    • Check if the pump is properly plugged into the controller.
    • Verify that the controller is receiving power from the wall outlet.
    • Inspect the pump itself for any blockages or mechanical failures.
    • Ensure the sensors are correctly positioned and free from obstructions that might prevent accurate water level detection.
  • Pump Not Turning On/Off:
    • Confirm the sensors are placed at the correct levels for your desired operation.
    • Check for any damage to the sensor cables.
    • Ensure a good ground reference is established for proper sensor function.
  • Intermittent Operation:
    • Verify that the power supply is stable.
    • Check for loose connections at the controller or pump.

If problems persist after following these steps, contact Briidea customer support for further assistance.
