2. Safety Instructions
Please read and follow all safety instructions before operating the DR112DSP speaker. Retain this manual for future reference.
- Power Source: Connect the speaker only to a power supply of the type described in this manual or marked on the unit. Ensure the voltage matches your region's power supply.
- Power Cord Protection: Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
- Ventilation: Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
- Heat: Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
- Water and Moisture: Do not use this apparatus near water. Do not expose to dripping or splashing.
- Cleaning: Clean only with a dry cloth.
- Servicing: Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
- Mounting: Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus.
3. Setup
Proper setup ensures optimal performance and safety of your DR112DSP speaker.
3.1 Power Connection
- Ensure the speaker's power switch is in the "OFF" position.
- Connect the supplied AC power cord to the power inlet on the rear panel of the DR112DSP speaker. The power inlet is a standard IEC C14 type, commonly found on computer desktops and other electronic equipment.
- Plug the other end of the power cord into a suitable grounded electrical outlet.
- Once all audio connections are made, you can switch the speaker to the "ON" position.
Note: The power cord connection should be secure to prevent accidental disconnection. Some units may have a slightly loose fit, but this does not typically affect performance if properly seated.
3.2 Audio Input Connections
The DR112DSP features a 2-channel mixer with various input options:
- Input 1 & 2: These inputs accept XLR and 1/4-inch TRS connectors, suitable for microphones, line-level instruments, or other audio sources.
- AUX IN: RCA inputs are provided for connecting consumer audio devices like media players or smartphones.
- Bluetooth: For wireless audio streaming, refer to Section 4.3 for pairing instructions.
Connect your audio sources to the appropriate inputs. Adjust the individual input gain controls as needed.
3.3 Output Connection
The speaker includes an XLR output for linking to additional powered speakers or sending the mixed signal to another audio device.
- OUTPUT: Use an XLR cable to connect this output to the input of another powered speaker or mixer.
3.4 Speaker Placement
The DR112DSP can be used as a floor-standing speaker or mounted on a standard 35mm speaker pole. Ensure stable placement to prevent tipping.
4. Operating the DR112DSP
4.1 Master Volume and DSP Control
The speaker features a master volume control and onboard DSP (Digital Signal Processing) for optimizing sound. The DSP allows for various sound modes and equalization adjustments to suit different environments and audio content.
- Master Volume: Adjust the overall output level of the speaker.
- DSP Presets: Utilize the DSP controls to select predefined sound modes (e.g., Music, Live, Speech) or customize settings for optimal audio quality. Refer to the on-screen display for navigation.
4.2 Using the 2-Channel Mixer
The integrated 2-channel mixer allows you to blend multiple audio sources directly through the speaker.
- Connect your audio sources to Input 1 and Input 2.
- Adjust the individual gain knobs for each input to achieve the desired balance.
- The mixed signal is then sent to the master volume and output.
4.3 Bluetooth Connectivity
To stream audio wirelessly via Bluetooth:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your audio device (smartphone, tablet, etc.).
- On the DR112DSP, activate Bluetooth pairing mode (refer to the DSP display for specific instructions, usually indicated by a blinking Bluetooth icon).
- On your device, search for "Behringer DR112DSP" or a similar name in the Bluetooth settings.
- Select the speaker to pair. Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator on the speaker will typically become solid.
- You can now play audio from your device through the speaker.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps prolong the life of your speaker.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the speaker. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Ensure the rear heat sink and ventilation openings remain clear of dust and debris to prevent overheating.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the speaker in a cool, dry place, ideally in its original packaging or a protective cover.
- Cable Management: Avoid tightly coiling or bending cables excessively, as this can damage them over time.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your DR112DSP speaker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power / Speaker does not turn on. | Power cord not connected, power outlet faulty, speaker switch off. | Check power cord connection at both speaker and outlet. Try a different outlet. Ensure power switch is ON. |
| No sound output. | Input cables not connected, input gain too low, master volume too low, incorrect DSP setting, source device issue. | Verify all audio cables are securely connected. Increase input gain and master volume. Check DSP settings. Test with a different audio source. |
| Distorted sound. | Input gain too high (clipping), master volume too high, faulty cable, damaged speaker component. | Reduce input gain and master volume. Check for clipping indicators. Try different cables. If distortion persists, professional servicing may be required. |
| Loud pop when powering off. | Known characteristic for some units when cables are connected during power-off. | Disconnect all input/output cables from the speaker before powering off the unit to avoid the pop. |
| Bluetooth not connecting. | Speaker not in pairing mode, device too far, interference, previously paired device. | Ensure speaker is in pairing mode. Move device closer. Turn off other Bluetooth devices. Forget speaker from device's Bluetooth list and re-pair. |
