4.2 Connecting Test Leads

  • Insert the red test lead into the VΩHz or mA/A input jack, depending on the measurement function.
  • Insert the black test lead into the COM (common) input jack.
  • For current measurements above 600mA, use the 20A input jack for the red lead.
  • For temperature measurements, connect the thermocouple to the designated temperature input ports.

5. Operating Instructions

This section details how to perform various measurements with your BT-770K multimeter.

5.1 General Operation

  1. Turn the rotary switch to the desired measurement function.
  2. Connect the test leads to the circuit or component being tested.
  3. Read the measurement value on the LCD display.
  4. The multimeter features an auto-ranging function, automatically selecting the appropriate range for most measurements.
  5. Use the "SELECT" button to switch between AC/DC modes or other sub-functions within a rotary switch position.
  6. The "HOLD" button freezes the current display reading.
  7. The "MAX/MIN" button displays the maximum or minimum measured value.
  8. The "PEAK" button captures peak values.
  9. The "NCV" (Non-Contact Voltage) function allows for voltage detection without direct contact.

5.2 Specific Measurement Functions

Voltage Measurement (AC/DC)

  • Turn the rotary switch to V~ (AC Voltage) or V- (DC Voltage).
  • Connect the test leads in parallel to the circuit.
  • The display will show the voltage reading.

Current Measurement (AC/DC)

  • Turn the rotary switch to A~ (AC Current) or A- (DC Current).
  • Connect the multimeter in series with the circuit. Ensure the correct input jack (mA/A or 20A) is used for the red lead.
  • The display will show the current reading.

Resistance Measurement

  • Turn the rotary switch to Ω.
  • Ensure the circuit is de-energized before measuring resistance.
  • Connect the test leads across the component.
  • The display will show the resistance reading.

Continuity Test

  • Turn the rotary switch to the continuity symbol (speaker icon).
  • Connect the test leads across the circuit or component.
  • A continuous beep indicates continuity (low resistance).

Temperature Measurement

  • Turn the rotary switch to °C/°F.
  • Connect the thermocouple to the dedicated temperature input ports.
  • Place the thermocouple tip on or near the object whose temperature is to be measured.
  • Use the "SELECT" button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
