RFMAX NAPCO-ANT-30 Antenna Extension Kit User Manual

Brand: RFMAX | Model: NAPCO-ANT-30

1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the installation and use of the RFMAX NAPCO-ANT-30 Antenna Extension Kit. This kit is designed to enhance cellular signal reception for Napco StarLink Universal Security Intrusion and Fire Alarm Communicators.

The kit includes a high-gain 3G/4G-LTE antenna, a wall-mounting bracket, and a 30-foot low-loss cable with N-Male and SMA-Male connectors. It is specifically optimized for use with Napco StarLink models such as SLE-LTEV, SLE-LTEVI, SLE-LTEV-CB, SLE-LTEV-CB-TF, SLE-LTEA, SLE-LTEAI, SLE-LTEVI-FIRE, SLE-LTEV-FIRE, SLELTEVI-CFB, SLETEVI-CFB-PS, SLELTEV-C, SLELTEV-Z, and SLE-TEV-CBTF-C.

2. Package Contents

  • High Gain External 3G/4G-LTE Antenna
  • External Wall Mounting Bracket
  • 30 Ft Low-Loss Cable (N-Male to SMA-Male Connectors)

3. Setup and Installation

Proper installation of the antenna is crucial for optimal performance. Follow these steps carefully:

3.1. Site Selection

  • Choose a location that provides the clearest line of sight to cellular towers. Higher elevations are generally better.
  • Avoid obstructions such as large buildings, trees, or metal structures that can block or interfere with the signal.
  • Ensure the chosen location is safe and accessible for installation and future maintenance.

3.2. Mounting the Antenna

Use the provided wall-mounting bracket to secure the antenna. The bracket can be mounted on a wall or pole.

  1. Position the mounting bracket at the selected location. Mark the drill holes.
  2. Drill pilot holes as marked.
  3. Secure the bracket using appropriate screws and anchors (not included, depending on surface material).
  4. Attach the antenna to the mounting bracket. Ensure it is firmly secured and oriented for best signal reception.

3.3. Connecting the Cable

  1. Connect the N-Male end of the 30-foot low-loss cable to the antenna. Hand-tighten securely.
  2. Route the cable to your Napco StarLink Alarm Communicator, ensuring it is protected from physical damage and environmental elements. Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the cable.
  3. Connect the SMA-Male end of the cable to the appropriate antenna port on your Napco StarLink Alarm Communicator. Hand-tighten securely.
  4. Verify all connections are tight and secure.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the antenna is properly installed and connected, it will passively enhance the cellular signal reception for your Napco StarLink Alarm Communicator. No active configuration is required for the antenna itself.

  • Refer to your Napco StarLink Alarm Communicator's manual for specific instructions on how to monitor signal strength and optimize its performance with an external antenna.
  • After installation, check the signal strength on your Napco StarLink device to confirm improved reception. Adjust antenna orientation slightly if necessary to achieve the best signal.

5. Maintenance

The RFMAX NAPCO-ANT-30 Antenna Extension Kit requires minimal maintenance.

  • Periodic Inspection: Annually inspect the antenna, mounting bracket, and cable for any signs of wear, corrosion, or damage.
  • Cleaning: If necessary, gently clean the antenna with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Connection Check: Periodically ensure all cable connections remain tight and free from moisture.

6. Troubleshooting

If you experience poor signal reception after installing the antenna, consider the following:

  • Antenna Orientation: Try slightly adjusting the direction of the antenna. Even small changes can significantly impact signal strength.
  • Cable Connections: Ensure all N-Male and SMA-Male connectors are securely fastened and free from damage.
  • Obstructions: Re-evaluate the antenna's location for any new or overlooked obstructions (e.g., new construction, tree growth).
  • Cable Integrity: Inspect the 30-foot cable for any visible damage, kinks, or sharp bends that could degrade signal quality.
  • Communicator Settings: Consult your Napco StarLink Alarm Communicator's manual for any specific external antenna settings or diagnostics.
