4. Setup

4.1 SIM Card and Micro SD Card Installation

To install your SIM card(s) and optional Micro SD card:

  1. Carefully remove the back cover of the phone.
  2. If the battery is already installed, remove it by gently lifting it from the bottom edge.
  3. Locate the SIM card slots (SIM1 and SIM2) and the Micro SD card slot.
  4. Insert your SIM card(s) into the designated slots with the gold contacts facing down, ensuring they are correctly oriented as indicated by the diagrams on the phone.
  5. If using a Micro SD card, insert it into its dedicated slot until it clicks into place.

Important SIM Card Activation Note:

This is a 3G phone. Many carriers have ceased activating new SIM cards directly on 3G devices. When activating a new SIM card, do not provide this phone's IMEI number. Instead, provide the IMEI number of an older phone or any other compatible phone to activate the SIM card. Once activated, insert the SIM card into your USHINING F240 phone. It will automatically connect to the carrier's network upon powering on.

4.2 Battery Installation

After installing the SIM/Micro SD card(s):

  1. Align the battery contacts with the terminals inside the phone.
  2. Gently press the battery into place until it sits securely.
  3. Replace the back cover, ensuring it snaps firmly into position.

4.3 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the phone's battery.

  1. Connect the Micro USB cable to the charging port on the phone.
  2. Plug the other end of the cable into the power adapter, then into a wall outlet.
  3. The charging indicator on the screen will show the charging status.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the charger.

4.4 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the red End Call/Power button (usually marked with a red phone icon) until the screen lights up.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the red End Call/Power button until the power-off options appear, then select 'Power Off'.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call: Enter the phone number using the keypad and press the green Call button (usually marked with a green phone icon).
  • To Answer a Call: When the phone rings, press the green Call button.
  • To End a Call: Press the red End Call/Power button.
  • Speed Dial: Use the M1, M2, M3 buttons for pre-set speed dial contacts. Refer to the phone's menu for setting these numbers.

5.2 Text Messaging (SMS)

  • Navigate to the 'Messages' menu.
  • Select 'Write Message' to compose a new SMS.
  • Enter the recipient's number or select from contacts.
  • Type your message using the keypad. Press the '#' key to switch input modes (e.g., ABC, abc, 123).
  • Press 'Send' to transmit the message.

5.3 SOS Emergency Function

The SOS button is located on the back of the phone and is designed for emergency situations.

  1. Setting SOS Numbers: Access the 'SOS Settings' in the phone's menu. You can typically set up to 5 emergency contact numbers. These numbers will be dialed sequentially until one answers.
  2. Activating SOS: In an emergency, press and hold the red SOS button on the back of the phone for several seconds. The phone will automatically dial the pre-set emergency contacts and send an emergency SMS message to them.

5.4 Phonebook / Contacts

To manage your contacts:

  • Navigate to the 'Phonebook' or 'Contacts' menu.
  • Select 'Add New Contact' to save a new number and name.
  • You can also edit or delete existing contacts from this menu.

5.5 Volume Adjustment

Use the dedicated volume up (+) and volume down (-) buttons located on the side of the phone to adjust call volume, ringtone volume, and media volume.

5.6 Flashlight

To activate the dual LED torch, locate the flashlight switch on the side of the phone and slide it to the 'On' position. Slide it back to 'Off' to turn off the light.
