  • Cleaning: Disconnect the smart plug from power before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Outdoor Placement: Ensure the smart plug is installed in a location that minimizes direct exposure to extreme weather conditions. While IP44 rated, prolonged exposure to heavy rain or standing water can compromise its integrity.
  • Outlet Covers: Always ensure the yellow outlet covers are securely in place when the outlets are not in use to maintain the IP44 weather resistance.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device Offline/Disconnection:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi router is powered on and functioning correctly.
    • Verify the smart plug is within range of your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If the signal is weak, consider using a Wi-Fi signal amplifier to extend coverage.
    • Restart the smart plug by unplugging it for 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
    • Check for any obstructions or interference that might be blocking the Wi-Fi signal.
  • Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi:
    • Confirm your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. The device does not support 5 GHz networks.
    • Ensure you have entered the correct Wi-Fi password.
    • Try moving the smart plug closer to your Wi-Fi router during the initial setup process.
    • Reset the smart plug to factory settings (refer to the Meross app for specific instructions on resetting).
  • Outlets Not Responding:
    • Check if the smart plug is receiving power (LED indicator should be on).
    • Ensure the connected appliance is functioning correctly by plugging it into a regular outlet.
    • Verify that the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed 1800 watts (15 Amps). Overloading can cause the device to shut down.
  • Water Ingress/Corrosion:
    • While IP44 rated for splashes, this device is not designed for submersion or direct exposure to high-pressure water jets.
    • If water ingress or corrosion is observed, immediately disconnect power and discontinue use. This indicates a potential failure of the weatherproofing, and continued use could be hazardous.
    • Ensure the yellow outlet covers are always properly sealed when not in use.
