- Always ensure the appliance is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from walls and curtains, during operation.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use oven mitts or the handle. The waffle maker plates become very hot during use.
- To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse the cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquids.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

3. Setup and First Use
3.1 Unpacking
- Carefully remove the waffle maker and all accessories from the packaging.
- Remove any packaging materials, stickers, or labels from the appliance.
- Inspect the appliance for any damage. Do not use if damaged.
3.2 Initial Cleaning
- Wipe the exterior of the waffle maker with a damp cloth.
- Clean the non-stick cooking plates with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as this can damage the non-stick coating.
- Dry all parts thoroughly before use.
3.3 Preparing for First Use
- Place the waffle maker on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
- Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet (220V). The LCD display will illuminate.
- For the first use, it is recommended to lightly grease the waffle plates with a small amount of cooking oil or butter. This helps condition the non-stick surface.
- Close the lid and allow the waffle maker to preheat for approximately 5-10 minutes. A slight odor or smoke may occur during the first use; this is normal and will dissipate.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On and Preheating
- Ensure the waffle maker is plugged into a 220V power outlet.
- Press the POWER button to turn on the appliance. The LCD display will show the default settings.
- The waffle maker will begin to preheat automatically. The display may show "PREHEATING" or a similar indicator. Wait until the appliance indicates it is ready for use (e.g., a beep or a "READY" message on the display).

4.2 Selecting Waffle Programs
The GASTROBACK 42424 offers 5 pre-set programs:
- Belgian: For thick, fluffy Belgian-style waffles.
- Classic: For traditional, thinner waffles.
- Chocolate: Optimized for chocolate-based waffle batters.
- Buttermilk: Specifically for buttermilk waffle recipes.
- Custom: Allows for manual adjustment of cooking time and temperature.
To select a program:
- Press the MENU button repeatedly until the desired program is highlighted on the LCD display.
- The appliance will automatically adjust its heating cycle for the selected program.
4.3 Adjusting Browning Level
The waffle maker features 7 browning levels, from Light (1) to Dark (7).
- Rotate the Browning Control Dial (Min/Max) to select your preferred browning level. The selected level will be indicated on the LCD display.
- A higher number corresponds to a darker, crispier waffle.
4.4 Adjusting Waffle Texture
You can choose from three texture options:
- Crisp Exterior, Moist Interior: Standard setting for a balanced texture.
- Uniform Texture: For waffles with consistent crispness throughout.
To select a texture:
- Press the TEXTURE button repeatedly to cycle through the available options. The selected texture will be displayed.
4.5 Making Waffles
- Once the waffle maker is preheated and your desired program, browning, and texture settings are selected, open the lid.
- Pour the waffle batter evenly onto the center of the lower waffle plate. Use the included measuring spoon to ensure consistent portion sizes. Do not overfill, as batter may overflow.
- Carefully close the lid. The cooking process will begin automatically, and the timer on the LCD display will count down.
- Do not open the lid during the cooking cycle, as this can affect the waffle's texture and cooking time.
- When the cooking cycle is complete, the appliance will emit an audible signal, and the display will indicate "DONE" or similar.
- Open the lid and carefully remove the cooked waffles using a heat-resistant plastic or wooden utensil. Do not use metal utensils, as they can damage the non-stick coating.
- Close the lid to allow the waffle maker to maintain its temperature for the next batch, or press the POWER button to turn it off.

4.6 Restart Function
If you need to restart the cooking cycle for any reason, press the RESTART button. This will reset the timer and begin a new cooking cycle with the current settings.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your GASTROBACK 42424 Advanced Control Waffle Maker.
- Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Cleaning the Waffle Plates:
- Once cooled, gently wipe the non-stick plates with a soft, damp cloth or sponge.
- For stubborn batter residue, dampen a cloth with warm, soapy water and wipe the plates. Avoid harsh detergents or abrasive cleaning tools.
- Never use metal scouring pads or abrasive cleaners, as they will scratch and damage the non-stick coating.
- For very sticky residue, pour a small amount of cooking oil onto the residue, let it sit for 5-10 minutes to soften, then wipe away with a soft cloth.
- Cleaning the Exterior: Wipe the stainless steel housing and control panel with a soft, damp cloth. Dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners or polishes on the exterior.
- Do Not Immerse: Never immerse the waffle maker, its cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
- Storage: Ensure the appliance is clean and dry before storing. Store in a cool, dry place. The cord can be wrapped around the base for compact storage.
