Setup

Follow these steps to set up your ORICO 5-Bay Docking Station:

  1. Insert Drives: Gently slide your 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA HDDs/SSDs into the available bays. Ensure they are securely seated in the connectors.
  2. Connect Power: Connect the provided 12V6.5A power adapter to the docking station's power input and then plug it into a power outlet.
  3. Connect to Computer (Optional for PC Mode): If you intend to use the docking station with a computer, connect the USB 3.0 A-B cable from the docking station to an available USB 3.0 port on your computer.
  4. Power On: Press the power button on the docking station. The LED indicators for each drive will light up blue, indicating successful connection.

Operation

A. Data Transfer (PC Mode)

When connected to a computer via the USB 3.0 cable, the ORICO 5-Bay Docking Station functions as an external drive enclosure. Each inserted HDD/SSD will be recognized as an individual drive by your operating system. You can drag and drop files, back up data, or access stored information as you would with any other external storage device. The device supports hot-swap, allowing you to insert or remove drives while the unit is powered on and connected to the PC, provided no data transfer is actively occurring on that specific drive.

B. Offline Clone Function

The offline clone function allows you to duplicate data from a source disk to a target disk without needing a computer. This is ideal for upgrading drives or creating backups.

  1. Prepare Disks: Insert the original disk into the Source bay (usually the first bay, labeled SOURCE). Insert the destination disk into the Target bay (any of the other bays, labeled TARGET).
  2. Connect Power: Ensure the power adapter is connected and the docking station is powered on.
