Installation Guide

Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of your amplifier. If you are unsure about any steps, consult a professional installer.

Mounting Location

Wiring and Connections

Before making any connections, disconnect the vehicle's negative battery terminal.

  1. Power Connection (+12V):

Run an 8-gauge (or larger, depending on total system power) power cable directly from the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery to the +12V terminal on the amplifier. Install an in-line fuse holder within 18 inches (45 cm) of the battery, using a fuse rated appropriately for your amplifier (refer to specifications for recommended fuse size).

  2. Ground Connection (GND):

Connect an 8-gauge (or larger) ground cable from the GND terminal on the amplifier to a clean, unpainted metal surface of the vehicle's chassis. Ensure the connection point is free of paint, rust, or dirt for a good electrical contact. The ground cable should be as short as possible, ideally less than 3 feet (1 meter).

  3. Remote Turn-On (REM):

Connect a remote turn-on wire from your head unit's remote output (usually a blue/white wire) to the REM terminal on the amplifier. This wire signals the amplifier to turn on when the head unit is powered on.

  4. Audio Input (RCA/Low-Level or High-Level):

Connect RCA cables from your head unit's pre-amp outputs to the Low/Hi-Input jacks on the amplifier. If your head unit does not have RCA outputs, you can use the high-level inputs (speaker level inputs) if available, or a line output converter (not included).

  5. Speaker Output:

Connect your speakers to the SPEAKER terminals on the amplifier. Pay close attention to polarity (+ and -) for each speaker. For bridged operation, refer to the diagram on the amplifier or in the full manual for correct wiring. Ensure speaker impedance matches the amplifier's capabilities (e.g., 2-ohm or 4-ohm per channel, or 4-ohm bridged).

Operation

Once installed, you can adjust the amplifier settings to optimize your audio system's performance.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your amplifier, refer to the table below for common problems and their solutions.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No Power / Amplifier Not Turning OnBlown fuse; loose power/ground/remote wire; no remote signal from head unit.Check and replace fuse; verify all power, ground, and remote connections are secure; check head unit's remote output.
Amplifier Goes Into Protect ModeOverheating; short circuit in speaker wiring; speaker impedance too low; internal fault.Ensure adequate ventilation; check speaker wires for shorts; verify speaker impedance is within amplifier's limits; if problem persists, seek professional service.
No Sound OutputNo audio input signal; incorrect gain setting; speaker wires disconnected; amplifier in protect mode.Check RCA/input connections; adjust gain; verify speaker connections; refer to "Amplifier Goes Into Protect Mode" solution.
Distorted SoundGain set too high; incorrect crossover settings; poor ground connection; damaged speakers.Reduce gain; adjust HPF/LPF settings; ensure solid ground connection; inspect speakers for damage.
Engine Noise / Whining SoundPoor ground connection; RCA cables too close to power wires; faulty RCA cables; ground loop.Improve ground connection; route RCA cables away from power wires; try new RCA cables; install a ground loop isolator.
