5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
Each RT637 walkie talkie requires 4 AAA batteries (not included).
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the walkie talkie.
- Push down on the clip and slide the cover off.
- Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover and slide it until it clicks into place.

5.2 Powering On/Off
- To Power On: Press and hold the Power/Menu button until the LCD screen illuminates.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the Power/Menu button until the LCD screen turns off.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Channel Selection
Your RT637 walkie talkie has 16 available channels.
- With the walkie talkie powered on, press the Power/Menu button once. The channel number will flash on the LCD screen.
- Use the Up or Down buttons to select your desired channel (1-16).
- Press the Power/Menu button again to confirm the channel selection.
6.2 Privacy Codes (CTCSS/DCS)
The RT637 supports 99 privacy codes (CTCSS/DCS) to minimize interference from other users on the same channel.
- After selecting a channel (as described above), press the Power/Menu button twice. The privacy code number will flash.
- Use the Up or Down buttons to select your desired privacy code (01-99). Code '00' means no privacy code is active.
- Press the Power/Menu button again to confirm the privacy code.
For successful communication, all walkie talkies in your group must be set to the same channel and privacy code.
6.3 Transmitting and Receiving
- To Transmit: Press and hold the PTT button (or Talk button) and speak clearly into the microphone. Release the button when you finish speaking.
- To Receive: The walkie talkie will automatically receive messages when not transmitting. Ensure the volume is set to an audible level.

6.4 VOX Function (Voice Operated Exchange)
The VOX function allows you to transmit without pressing the PTT button. When VOX is active, the walkie talkie will automatically transmit when it detects your voice.
- Press the Power/Menu button repeatedly until 'VOX' appears on the screen.
- Use the Up or Down buttons to select the VOX sensitivity level (e.g., 1-3, with 1 being most sensitive). Select 'OF' to turn VOX off.
- Press the Power/Menu button to confirm.
6.5 LED Flashlight
To activate the built-in LED flashlight, press the Lamp button. Press it again to turn the flashlight off.

6.6 Key Lock Function
The key lock function prevents accidental button presses, such as changing channels.
- To Lock Keys: Press and hold the Power/Menu button until a key icon appears on the LCD screen.
- To Unlock Keys: Press and hold the Power/Menu button again until the key icon disappears.
6.7 Call Tone
Your walkie talkie has multiple call tones to alert other users. To send a call tone, simply press the Call button.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Battery Care: Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage. Replace all batteries at the same time.
