3. Setup and Initial Inflation

Follow these steps for proper setup and initial inflation of your airbed.

  1. Unpack the Airbed: Remove the airbed from its carry bag and unroll it on a clean, flat surface, free from sharp objects.
  2. Locate the Built-in Pump: The pump is integrated into the side of the airbed. Open the cover to access the power cord.
  3. Plug In: Plug the power cord into a standard 110-120V AC electrical outlet.
  4. Inflate: Turn the pump switch to the 'Inflate' position. The airbed will begin to inflate. Allow approximately 3.5 to 4 minutes for full inflation.
  5. Adjust Firmness: Once inflated, turn the pump switch to 'Off' and close the pump cover. You can add or release air to achieve your desired firmness.

Initial Stretching and Re-inflation:

When new, the material of the airbed will naturally stretch. This may cause the airbed to feel softer or appear to lose air during the first few uses. This is normal and not a leak.

Video: Official Intex instructional video explaining initial airbed stretching and how to re-inflate for optimal firmness.

Simply re-inflate the airbed as needed until it fully settles, which typically takes 2-3 nights of use. This process ensures the material reaches its full elasticity and provides consistent firmness.

4. Operating Instructions

General Use:

  • Place the airbed on a smooth, clean surface.
  • For best comfort, ensure the airbed is fully inflated to your preferred firmness.
  • The 18-inch height makes it comparable to a traditional bed, allowing for easy entry and exit.
  • The outer perimeter frame provides additional stability, reducing roll-off.

Deflation:

  1. Ensure the airbed is unplugged from the power outlet.
  2. Open the pump cover and plug the power cord back in.
  3. Turn the pump switch to the 'Deflate' position. The pump will actively remove air from the airbed.
  4. Once fully deflated, turn the pump switch to 'Off', unplug the cord, and close the pump cover.
  5. Fold the airbed neatly for storage in the provided carry bag.

5. Maintenance

Cleaning:

  • The airbed surface can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the material.
  • Ensure the airbed is completely dry before storing to prevent mold or mildew.
  • The manufacturer recommends hand washing only for product care.

Storage:

  • After deflating and cleaning, fold the airbed carefully.
  • Store the airbed in its original carry bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the stored airbed.

Repair Patch:

A repair patch is included for minor punctures. Clean and dry the damaged area thoroughly before applying the patch according to the instructions provided with the patch.

6. Troubleshooting

Airbed Appears to Lose Air:

  • Material Stretching: As mentioned in the setup section, new airbeds will stretch. This is normal and not a leak. Re-inflate the airbed as needed for the first 2-3 nights.
  • Temperature Changes: Cold air causes air to contract, making the airbed feel softer. Warm air causes air to expand. Adjust inflation as room temperature changes.
  • Valve/Pump Seal: Ensure the pump cover is securely closed after inflation. Check for any debris around the pump seal.
  • Puncture: Inspect the airbed for any small holes or punctures. Use the included repair patch for minor damage.
