5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

The AP-816B Anemometer uses one CR2032 3V battery. Follow these steps to install or replace the battery:

  1. Locate the battery cover on the back of the device.
  2. Use a coin or a Phillips screwdriver to rotate the battery cover counter-clockwise to the 'OPEN' position.
  3. Carefully remove the old battery if replacing.
  4. Insert the new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up, aligning with the polarity indicator.
  5. Place the battery cover back and rotate it clockwise to the 'CLOSE' position to secure it.

5.2 Attaching the Lanyard

To prevent accidental drops and for convenient carrying, attach the included lanyard:

  1. Thread the thin loop of the lanyard through the lanyard interface hole at the bottom of the anemometer.
  2. Pass the larger end of the lanyard through the small loop you just created and pull to secure.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Long press the 'MODE' button until the display lights up and the 'm/s' unit starts to flash.
  • Power Off: Long press the 'SET' button until the display turns off. The device also features an auto-power off function to conserve battery.

6.2 Changing Temperature Units (℃/℉)

Press the '℃/℉' key to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays.

6.3 Selecting Wind Speed Units

While the device is on, press the 'SET' button repeatedly to cycle through the available wind speed units: m/s, Ft/min, Knots, Km/hr, Mph. The selected unit will be displayed on the screen.

6.4 Measurement Modes

Press the 'MODE' button (short press) to switch between different measurement modes:

  • CURRENT: Displays the real-time wind speed.
  • MAX: Shows the maximum wind speed recorded since power-on.
  • AVG: Displays the average wind speed recorded since power-on.

6.5 Taking Measurements

Hold the anemometer so that the fan wheel faces directly into the wind. The LCD will instantly display the wind speed and temperature. If the temperature drops below 0℃ (32℉), the wind chill symbol will appear on the LCD.
