4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Connection Method

Follow the connection sequence below to ensure proper and safe installation. Connect components in the order specified:

  1. Connect the battery to the controller's battery terminals (marked with a battery symbol). Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
  2. Connect the solar panel to the controller's solar panel terminals (marked with a solar panel symbol). Ensure correct polarity.
  3. Connect the load to the controller's load terminals (marked with a light bulb symbol). Ensure correct polarity.

Important: Always connect the battery first, then the solar panel, and finally the load. Disconnect in the reverse order.

5.2 Adjusting Voltage Settings

If you encounter issues or need to adjust the recovery discharge voltage (e.g., to 13.7V), follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the MCU control button (usually the left button) for approximately 3-4 seconds. This will bring up the management interface on the screen.
  2. Press the 'add' button (usually the right button) repeatedly until the desired voltage, such as 13.7V, is displayed.
  3. Press the MCU control button again. The display will stop flickering, indicating that the new setting has been saved.

5.3 Load Control Mode

The controller allows selection of different load control modes, including a timer function for night-time operation, useful for applications like street lights. Refer to the on-screen menu for specific options and adjustments.

6. Maintenance

  • Regularly check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion.
  • Keep the controller clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the controller to prevent overheating.
  • Monitor the LCD display periodically to ensure the system is operating within normal parameters.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 No Output / Battery Voltage Too Low

If the battery voltage is too low, the controller will stop the output to protect the battery. The output will resume once the solar panel has charged the battery to 12.6V (recovery discharge voltage).

  • Check Battery Voltage: Verify the battery voltage using a multimeter.
  • Check Solar Panel Connection: Ensure the solar panel is properly connected and receiving sunlight.
  • Adjust Voltage Settings: If the recovery voltage is set too low, you may need to adjust it as described in Section 5.2. The normal operating voltage range for the controller is 10.7V to 13.7V.

7.2 Error Messages

The controller records errors during operation. If an error message appears on the LCD, consult the manual's specific error code section (if available) or contact customer support. Common issues include:

  • Over-voltage protection
  • Short-circuit protection
  • Over-load protection
  • Overcharge protection
  • Over-discharge protection
  • Reverse polarity connection
