2. Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the equipment:

  • Ensure the pump is placed on a stable, level surface during operation.
  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves.
  • Do not operate the pump without sufficient vacuum pump oil. Check the oil level before each use.
  • Disconnect power before performing any maintenance or repairs.
  • Avoid direct contact with refrigerant.
  • Use only in well-ventilated areas.

3. Setup

Before operating the vacuum pump, proper setup is crucial:

3.2 Initial Oil Filling

  1. Remove the oil cap/oil mist trap from the top of the pump.
  2. Carefully pour vacuum pump oil into the oil intake until the level is between the 'MIN' and 'MAX' marks on the sight glass. The oil capacity is 300 ml.
  3. Reinstall the oil cap/oil mist trap securely.

3.3 Connecting Hoses

Connect the appropriate hoses to the vacuum pump's 1/4" flare intake port and to your HVAC or automotive AC system. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.

4. Operating Instructions

This section outlines the general procedure for using the vacuum pump for HVAC and automotive AC systems.

4.1 Vacuuming the System

  1. Ensure the vacuum pump is properly filled with oil and connected to the system via manifold gauges.
  2. Open the valves on your manifold gauge set.
  3. Turn on the vacuum pump. The pump will draw the system down to approximately 37.5 microns (5 Pa).
  4. Continue vacuuming for 10-15 minutes to ensure all moisture and non-condensable gases are removed.
  5. After vacuuming, close the manifold gauge valves, then disconnect the yellow hose from the vacuum pump, and finally turn off the vacuum pump to prevent oil backflow.
  6. Monitor the low-pressure gauge for 5-10 minutes. If the needle remains steady, there is no leak.

4.2 Refrigerant Recharging

After successful vacuuming, you can proceed with recharging the system:

  1. Connect the yellow hose from the manifold gauge set to the refrigerant source (e.g., R134a, R410a, R22).
  2. Purge air from the yellow hose by briefly opening and closing the manifold valve.
  3. Open the low-side valve on the manifold gauge set to allow refrigerant to enter the system.
  4. Monitor the pressure on the gauges and the amount of refrigerant charged according to the system's specifications.
  5. Once the desired amount is charged, close the manifold gauge valves and disconnect the hoses.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your vacuum pump.

5.1 Oil Level Check

Check the oil level before each use. The oil should be clear and between the 'MIN' and 'MAX' indicators on the sight glass. If the oil is cloudy or discolored, it needs to be changed.

5.2 Oil Change

To change the oil, drain the old oil through the oil drain valve at the bottom of the pump. Dispose of used oil responsibly. Refill with new vacuum pump oil as described in Section 3.2.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your vacuum pump, refer to the detailed troubleshooting guide in the full user manual for common faults and solutions. Proper operation is key to preventing malfunctions.
