Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your iBall iB-WRB333N router for internet access.

1. Hardware Connection

1. Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the router's power input port and then plug it into a power outlet.
2. Internet Connection (WAN):
   • If you have a DSL/Cable modem, connect an Ethernet cable from your modem's LAN port to the WAN port (blue) on the iBall router.
   • If your internet service is directly from an Ethernet wall jack, connect the Ethernet cable from the wall jack to the WAN port (blue) on the iBall router.
3. Local Area Network (LAN) Connection: Connect one end of the provided RJ45 patch cord to any of the LAN ports (yellow) on the router and the other end to your computer's Ethernet port. For wireless devices, proceed to the next step.

2. Initial Configuration (Wired Connection Recommended)

1. Ensure your computer is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable.
2. Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
3. In the address bar, type iball.wifi or the default IP address (usually found on a sticker on the router's underside, commonly 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and press Enter.
4. You will be prompted for a username and password. The default credentials are often admin for both username and password. Refer to the router's sticker or Quick Installation Guide if these do not work.
5. Once logged in, you will access the router's web management interface.

3. Internet Setup Wizard

The router typically features a Quick Setup Wizard to guide you through the internet connection process.

1. Follow the on-screen instructions of the setup wizard.
2. Select your Internet Connection Type:
   • Dynamic IP: For most cable modem users or ISPs that automatically assign IP addresses.
   • Static IP: If your ISP provides a fixed IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers.
   • PPPoE: Common for DSL connections, requiring a username and password from your ISP.
3. Configure your Wireless Network (Wi-Fi) settings:
   • SSID: This is your Wi-Fi network name. You can keep the default or change it to something recognizable.
   • Password (WPA/WPA2-PSK): Set a strong password for your Wi-Fi network to secure it.
4. Save your settings and restart the router if prompted.

4. Universal Repeater / Access Point Mode Setup

If you intend to use the iB-WRB333N as a Universal Repeater (extender) or Access Point:

1. Connect the iBall router to your PC with an Ethernet cable (do not connect your main router's internet cable to the iBall router's WAN port yet).
2. Access the router's login page (iball.wifi or default IP).
3. In the settings, navigate to the "Connection Mode" or "Operation Mode" section.
4. Change the mode from "Router" to "AP" (Access Point) or "Repeater" (Universal Repeater).
5. If using Repeater mode, select the Wi-Fi network you wish to extend and enter its password.
6. Save the settings and restart the router.
7. For AP mode, connect an Ethernet cable from your main router's LAN port to one of the iBall router's LAN ports (yellow). Do not use the WAN port.
8. For Repeater mode, the router will connect wirelessly to your main router.

Operating Instructions

Connecting to the Wireless Network

Once the router is configured, you can connect your wireless devices (laptops, smartphones, tablets) to the Wi-Fi network.

1. On your wireless device, open the Wi-Fi settings.
2. Scan for available networks.
3. Select the SSID (network name) you configured during setup.
4. Enter the Wi-Fi password you set.
5. Your device should now be connected to the internet.

Advanced Features

• Guest Network Access: Create a separate Wi-Fi network for guests, keeping your main network secure. This can be configured in the router's web interface.
• Parental Control: Manage internet access for specific devices or users by setting time limits or blocking certain websites. Access these settings through the router's web interface.

Maintenance

Troubleshooting

No Internet Access

• Check Cable Connections: Ensure all Ethernet cables (WAN, LAN) are securely connected.
• Modem Status: Verify that your modem (if applicable) is working correctly and has an active internet connection.
• Router Lights: Check the indicator lights on the router. The WAN light should be on or blinking, indicating an active internet connection.
• Router Configuration: Log into the router's web interface and re-verify your internet connection type and settings (Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE).
• Restart Devices: Power cycle your modem, then the router, and then your computer/device.

Weak or Unstable Wi-Fi Signal

• Router Placement: Move the router to a more central location, away from walls, large metal objects, and other electronic devices that may cause interference.
• Antenna Orientation: Adjust the router's antennas for better signal reception.
• Interference: Other wireless devices (cordless phones, microwaves, Bluetooth devices) can interfere with Wi-Fi signals. Try changing the wireless channel in the router's settings.
• Coverage Area: The router is recommended for areas up to 450 sq ft with light usage (casual browsing, video streaming) for up to 5 devices. Performance may vary based on internet speed, distance, and wall thickness.

Cannot Access Router's Web Interface

• Wired Connection: Ensure your computer is connected directly to a LAN port on the router via an Ethernet cable.
• IP Address: Double-check the IP address you are typing in the browser (e.g., iball.wifi or 192.168.1.1).
• IP Settings: Ensure your computer's network adapter is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).
• Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking access.
• Reset Router: If all else fails, you may need to perform a factory reset. Locate the WPS/Reset button on the back of the router. With the router powered on, press and hold this button for approximately 5-10 seconds until the lights flash. This will restore the router to its factory default settings, and you will need to reconfigure it.
