Powering the Device
The Eoxsmile Emergency Radio offers five ways to power or charge the unit:
- Micro USB Charging: Connect the included USB cable to a 5V/2A power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port. This is the primary and fastest charging method.
- Solar Panel: Place the radio with the solar panel facing direct sunlight. This method is primarily for maintaining battery charge or for slow charging in emergency situations.
- Hand Crank: Rotate the hand crank clockwise or counter-clockwise at a steady pace (approximately 130-150 RPM) to generate power. Cranking for 1 minute can provide approximately 15-20 minutes of radio use or a few minutes of flashlight use.
- Built-in 5000mAh Rechargeable Battery: The main power source for the radio, providing long operational time.
- 3 x AAA Batteries (Not Included): An alternative backup power source. Ensure correct polarity when inserting.
Maintenance
- Keep the radio dry and clean. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods (except for solar charging), and high humidity.
- Clean the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- If storing for an extended period, fully charge the internal battery and remove any AAA batteries to prevent leakage. Recharge the internal battery every 3-6 months to maintain its lifespan.
- Avoid dropping the radio or subjecting it to strong impacts.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power/Radio does not turn on | Battery depleted; AAA batteries incorrectly installed or depleted. | Charge the internal battery via USB or hand crank. Check and replace AAA batteries if used. Ensure power knob is turned on. |
| Poor radio reception | Antenna not extended; weak signal area; interference. | Fully extend the telescopic antenna. Reposition the radio for better signal. Avoid areas with strong electromagnetic interference. |
| Flashlight/Reading lamp not working | Battery depleted; lamp/flashlight switch off. | Charge the internal battery. Ensure the respective light switch is pressed. |
| Cannot charge external devices | Radio battery too low; incorrect cable; device not compatible. | Ensure the radio's internal battery has sufficient charge. Use the correct USB cable for your device. Some high-power devices may not be fully supported. |
| NOAA alert not triggering | Not tuned to a NOAA channel; no active alert in the area. | Ensure the radio is set to WB band and tuned to a local NOAA channel. Verify if there are active weather alerts in your region. |
