Setup
1. Battery Installation
Align the 2800mAh Lithium Polymer battery with the contacts on the back of the radio and slide it into place until it clicks securely. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use.
The 2800mAh battery provides extended operation time. Ensure proper alignment when inserting into the radio.

2. Antenna Attachment
Screw the dual band antenna clockwise onto the connector at the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
3. Programming Cable Connection
For advanced programming and customization, connect the CH430 USB programming cable to the side port of the radio. This allows you to use CHIRP software on your computer to manage channels and settings.

Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Volume Control
To power on the radio, rotate the top knob clockwise. Continue rotating to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and power off.
2. Dual PTT Button
The UV-82 features a unique dual Push-to-Talk (PTT) button. The top part of the button transmits on the upper frequency display, and the bottom part transmits on the lower frequency display. This allows for quick switching between two active channels.

3. FM Radio Function
Press the 'FM' button on the keypad to switch to FM radio mode. Use the up/down arrow keys to scan through FM frequencies. Press 'FM' again to exit FM radio mode.
4. Flashlight Function
The radio is equipped with an LED flashlight. Press the dedicated flashlight button on the side of the radio to turn it on. Press again for strobe mode, and a third time to turn it off.
The top of the radio includes a built-in LED flashlight for illumination in low-light conditions.
5. VOX Function (Voice Operated Transmit)
The VOX function allows for hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will transmit automatically when it detects your voice. Refer to the full user manual for detailed VOX sensitivity settings.
6. Scanning
To scan for active frequencies, press the 'SCAN' button. The radio will cycle through frequencies and stop on an active one. Press 'SCAN' again to resume scanning.
7. Squelch Adjustment
Squelch helps to suppress weak signals and background noise. Adjust the squelch level through the radio's menu settings to optimize reception based on your environment.

Maintenance
