For Pools up to 8,500 Gallons
Product Overview
The Intex QX2100 Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump & Saltwater System combines two powerful technologies to keep your pool water clean, clear, and fresh. This system utilizes sand filtration for efficient debris removal and an electrocatalytic oxidation saltwater system to generate natural chlorine, reducing the need for traditional chemical handling.
Key benefits include:
- Cost-Efficient Filtration: Sand is an inexpensive filter media that, with regular backwashing, typically only needs replacement every five years.
- Advanced Filtering System: Circulates through six cleaning functions for maximum performance: filter, backwash, rinse, recirculate, waste, and closed.
- HydroAeration Technology: Patented technology improves overall water circulation, clarity, and freshness by injecting air into the water, which accelerates circulation and joins fine particles into larger clusters for more effective filtration. It also removes minerals through oxidation for ultimate water clarity and generates negative ions for improved air quality around the pool.
- Reduced Chemical Use: The saltwater system generates natural chlorine from salt, minimizing the need for added chemicals.
- Convenient Operation: Features a 24-hour digital timer for automatic daily operation.

Setup and Installation
Proper setup is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Follow these steps carefully:
- Placement: Position the sand filter pump and saltwater system on a firm, level surface near your pool. Ensure it is within reach of a grounded electrical outlet with GFCI protection.
- Hose Connections: Connect the two 1 1/2-inch connector hoses between the pool, the sand filter pump, and the saltwater system. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.
- HydroAeration Inlet: Install the HydroAeration Technology inlet fitting into your pool's return line. This fitting helps improve water circulation and aeration.
- Add Filter Media: Fill the sand filter tank with the appropriate amount of filter sand (not included). Refer to the specific instructions in your detailed user guide for the correct sand type and quantity.
- Add Salt: Add non-iodized pool salt directly into the pool water. The amount of salt required depends on your pool's volume. Consult the salt dosage chart in your user manual. Allow the salt to dissolve completely before operating the system.
- Electrical Connection: Plug the 25ft power cord into a 120V grounded electrical outlet with built-in GFCI for safety.

Operating Instructions
The Intex QX2100 system is designed for ease of use with its intuitive control panel.
- Power On: Press the power button on the control panel to turn on the system.
- Set Timer: Utilize the 24-hour digital timer to program the pump's operation cycle. You can set it to run for up to 12 hours daily for effortless scheduling.
- Select Function: The system circulates through six cleaning functions: Filter, Backwash, Circulation, Rinse, Recirculate, and Waste. Use the multi-port valve handle on top of the sand filter to select the desired function.
- HydroAeration in Action: Once running, the HydroAeration Technology will begin to improve water circulation, clarity, and freshness in your pool.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your Intex QX2100 system:
- Backwashing: Perform regular backwashing of the sand filter to remove trapped debris. This process involves reversing the water flow to clean the sand media. The system's clear sight glass will indicate when the backwash water runs clear, signaling completion.
- Sand Replacement: The filter sand typically needs to be replaced approximately every five years, depending on usage and water quality.
- Salt Cell Cleaning: Periodically clean the electrolytic cell of the saltwater system to prevent mineral buildup. The system may indicate when cleaning is needed.
- Salt Level Monitoring: Regularly check the salt level in your pool water using test strips or a salt meter. Maintain the recommended salt concentration for optimal chlorine generation.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Intex QX2100 system, consider the following common solutions:
- Low Flow/Poor Filtration:
- Check if the multi-port valve is set to the correct filtering position.
- Perform a backwash and rinse cycle to clean the sand filter.
- Ensure hoses are not kinked or obstructed.
- Verify the pump basket and skimmer basket are clear of debris.
- Low Chlorine Production:
- Check the pool's salt level and add more salt if necessary. Allow time for salt to dissolve.
- Clean the electrolytic cell if mineral buildup is present.
- Ensure the system is running for the recommended daily hours based on pool size and usage.
- System Error Codes: Refer to your detailed user manual for specific error code meanings and troubleshooting steps displayed on the digital timer.
