5. Installation and Setup
5.1 Mounting Location
Choose a suitable outdoor location for mounting. The optimal mounting height is between 2 and 2.5 meters for effective detection. Ensure the chosen location provides a clear line of sight for the desired detection area and is free from obstructions that could interfere with the sensor's operation.
5.2 Mounting the Device
- Disconnect Power: Before starting, ensure the main power supply to the installation area is switched off at the circuit breaker.
- Separate Components: The sensor assembly can be detached from the back-box by unscrewing the small screws on each side.
- Secure Back-Box: Position the back-box on the wall at the desired height. Mark the drilling points. Drill holes and secure the back-box to the wall using appropriate screws and wall plugs.
- Cable Access: The back-box provides cable access points at the back, top, or bottom. Feed the electrical cables through the built-in grommets.

5.3 Wiring
Connect the electrical wires to the push-button connector block inside the back-box. Ensure a good length of bare wire is used and fed securely into the connector block holes. The connections are typically straightforward, showing live input and output terminals. Refer to the wiring diagram provided with the product packaging for precise connections.

5.4 Reassemble and Test
- Once wiring is complete, slide the sensor assembly back over the back-box.
- Secure the sensor assembly with the two small screws removed earlier.
- Restore power to the circuit. The device should now be ready for adjustment and operation.
6. Operation and Adjustment Settings
The Orno CR-259/B features two adjustable potentiometers located under the sensor lens for customizing its operation:

Figure 4: Front view of the motion detector, highlighting the TIME and LUX adjustment dials.
6.1 Time Adjustment (TIME)
This dial controls the duration for which the connected light or device remains active after motion is detected. The adjustable range is from 10 seconds (± 3 seconds) to 30 minutes (± 2 minutes). Rotate the dial clockwise to increase the duration and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
6.2 Light Intensity Adjustment (LUX)
The LUX dial determines the ambient light level at which the sensor becomes active. This allows the device to operate only when it's dark enough, conserving energy. The range is from <3 lux (very dark) to 2000 lux (daylight). Rotate the dial towards the 'sun' symbol for operation in brighter conditions (day and night) or towards the 'moon' symbol for operation only in darker conditions (dusk/night).
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the sensor lens with a soft, damp cloth to ensure optimal detection performance. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Inspection: Regularly check the mounting and wiring for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections.
- Environmental Factors: Ensure no new obstructions (e.g., growing plants, new structures) are blocking the sensor's field of view.
8. Troubleshooting
- Light does not turn on:
- Check power supply to the sensor and connected light.
- Verify LUX setting: If set to 'moon' symbol, it will not activate in daylight.
- Ensure no obstructions are blocking the sensor's view.
- Confirm wiring connections are secure.
- Light stays on continuously:
- Check for constant motion within the detection area (e.g., swaying branches, pets).
- Adjust TIME setting to a shorter duration.
- Ensure the sensor is not exposed to direct heat sources or strong air currents.
- Detection range is too short or inconsistent:
- Verify mounting height is within the optimal 2-2.5m range.
- Clean the sensor lens for any dirt or debris.
- Ensure there are no objects partially blocking the sensor's field of view.
- Test sensitivity by walking through the detection area at different distances.
