Tube Replacement
Vacuum tubes have a finite lifespan and will eventually need replacement. If you notice a decrease in performance, unusual noise, or loss of volume, it may be time to replace the tubes. It is recommended to have tube replacement and biasing performed by a qualified technician.
- The JJ-Junior uses dual EL84 power tubes.
- Preamp tubes are typically 12AX7s.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound | Power cord disconnected, instrument cable faulty, volume low, speaker not connected. | Check all connections, test cables, increase volume, ensure speaker is connected. |
| Weak or distorted sound | Faulty tubes, incorrect impedance, damaged speaker. | Consult a technician for tube or speaker issues. Verify correct impedance for external cabinets. |
| Excessive hum or noise | Ground loop, faulty cables, proximity to interference sources. | Use grounded outlets, try different cables, move amplifier away from other electronics. |
If you encounter issues not listed here or if troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, contact Friedman customer support or a qualified service technician.
