Setup and Assembly

Before operating the pole saw, ensure it is properly assembled and prepared for use.

1. Charging the Battery:

   Insert the 20V Max Lithium-Ion Battery into the provided charger. Plug the charger into a standard electrical outlet. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status. Allow the battery to fully charge before first use. Refer to the charger's specific instructions for charging times and indicator meanings.

2. Attaching the Pole Saw Head:

   Align the pole saw head with the main shaft. Ensure the connection points are clean and free of debris. Push the head onto the shaft until it clicks securely into place. Verify the connection is firm before proceeding.

3. Adjusting Telescopic Shaft Length:

   The pole saw features a telescoping shaft that adjusts from 7.5 feet to 9.5 feet. To adjust, loosen the locking collar, extend or retract the shaft to the desired length, and then firmly tighten the locking collar to secure the shaft in position. Ensure the shaft is fully locked before operation.

4. Tool-less Chain Tensioning:

   The pole saw is equipped with tool-less chain tensioning for convenient adjustment. Locate the tensioning knob on the side of the saw head. Turn the knob to adjust the chain tension. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand. Refer to the diagram for proper tensioning.

5. Filling the Automatic Oiler:

   The pole saw has an automatic oiler with a semi-transparent housing. Before each use, ensure the oil reservoir is filled with appropriate bar and chain oil. Unscrew the oil cap, fill the reservoir, and securely replace the cap. The semi-transparent housing allows you to monitor the oil level during operation.

6. Attaching the Carrying Belt:

   Attach the provided carrying belt to the designated attachment points on the pole saw. Adjust the belt length for comfortable and balanced support, which helps reduce fatigue during extended use.

Operation

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your Hyper Tough pole saw.

1. Pre-Operation Check:
   • Ensure the battery is fully charged and securely inserted.
   • Check the oil reservoir and fill if necessary.
   • Verify chain tension is correct.
   • Inspect the chain and bar for any damage or wear.
   • Confirm all connections and locking collars are tight.
2. Starting the Pole Saw:

   With the battery inserted, depress the safety lock-off button (if present) and then squeeze the trigger switch to start the motor. The chain will begin to move.

3. Cutting Technique:

   Position yourself with stable footing. Hold the pole saw firmly with both hands, utilizing the ergonomic handle and carrying belt for balance. Make cuts in a controlled manner, allowing the saw to do the work. Avoid forcing the saw through branches. For larger limbs, make an undercut first to prevent bark stripping, then complete the cut from the top.

4. Stopping the Pole Saw:

   Release the trigger switch to stop the motor and chain. Always ensure the chain has come to a complete stop before setting the tool down or performing any adjustments.

• Chain Lubrication: The automatic oiler provides continuous lubrication to the chain and bar during operation. Regularly check the oil level through the semi-transparent housing and refill with quality bar and chain oil as needed.
• Chain Sharpening/Replacement: A dull chain will reduce cutting efficiency and increase strain on the motor. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when it becomes excessively worn or damaged. Refer to the chain manufacturer's guidelines for sharpening angles and file sizes.
