Setup and Installation

The Geekpure RO system is designed for under-sink installation. The system comes with high-quality quick connect fittings and color-coded tubing to simplify the installation process. While professional installation is not required, careful attention to detail is crucial to prevent leaks.

Pre-Installation Checks:

  • Ensure all components are present and undamaged.
  • Verify feed water conditions: Pressure 40-100 PSI, Temperature 40-110°F (5-45°C), pH 3.0-11.0, Max TDS 2000 PPM.
  • The storage tank is pre-pressurized between 5-7 PSI.

Installation Steps (General Overview):

  1. Mount the Main Unit: Secure the main filter unit under your sink in a suitable location.
  2. Install Faucet: Drill a hole (if necessary) and install the dispensing faucet on your countertop or sink.
  3. Connect Feed Water: Use the feed water diverter valve to connect the system to your cold water supply.
  4. Install Drain Saddle: Attach the drain saddle to the drain pipe to dispose of wastewater.
  5. Connect Tubing: Follow the color-coded tubing guide to connect all filters, the storage tank, faucet, and drain saddle. Ensure tubing is pushed all the way into quick connect fittings and secured with clips.
  6. UV Filter Connection: Connect the UV filter and its electronic ballast according to the specific instructions provided for the UV unit.
  7. Leak Check: After completing all connections, slowly turn on the water supply. Carefully check all connections for leaks. It is recommended to wait until the entire system is pressurized (including the storage tank and faucet) and re-check for any leaks before leaving the installation site.
  8. Initial Flush: The first two tanks of water produced should be emptied and not used. It is normal for some black carbon fines to appear in the water during this initial flushing period.

Operating Instructions

Once installed and flushed, your Geekpure RO system will continuously produce purified water. The system has a capacity of 75 gallons per day at 60 PSI.

Water Production:

The system operates automatically. As water is drawn from the faucet, the storage tank pressure drops, and the system begins to produce more purified water to refill the tank. The UV filter operates continuously, 24/7, ensuring consistent water purity.

Wastewater Ratio:

Reverse osmosis is a purification process that produces a small amount of wastewater. For this system, approximately two gallons of wastewater will be produced for every gallon of pure water. This is a normal and necessary part of the RO filtration process.

Water Quality:

The system significantly reduces Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). You can use a TDS meter to monitor the water quality. Ideal drinking water from RO typically has very low TDS levels.

Troubleshooting

No Water Flow or Slow Flow:

  • O-Rings: Inspect O-rings in filter housings for proper seating and damage. Apply food-grade silicone grease if necessary.
  • Teflon Tape: For threaded connections, ensure sufficient Teflon tape was used during installation.
  • UV Chamber: If leaks occur around the UV chamber, ensure the silicone sleeve and O-rings are correctly positioned and sealed.

Poor Water Taste or Odor:

  • Carbon Filters: Granular and Post Carbon filters remove taste and odor. Replace them if taste or odor issues persist.
  • RO Membrane: A failing RO membrane can lead to poor water quality. Test TDS levels; if high, replace the membrane.
  • Initial Flush: Ensure the initial two tanks of water were fully drained after installation.

UV Light Not Working:

  • Power Supply: Check if the electronic ballast is plugged in and receiving power.
  • UV Lamp: The UV lamp has a limited lifespan (9000 hours). Replace it if it has expired or is visibly damaged.
  • Ballast Failure: If the lamp is new and power is supplied, the electronic ballast may need replacement.
