This winch is designed for ATV and UTV applications, offering reliable pulling power in various conditions. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety.

2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when operating the winch. Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or property damage.

  • Read the Manual: Understand all operating procedures and safety warnings before use.
  • Wear Protective Gear: Always wear heavy-duty gloves, eye protection, and appropriate clothing.
  • Inspect Before Use: Check the winch, rope, hook, and all connections for damage or wear before each operation. Do not use if any component is compromised.
  • Maintain Safe Distance: Keep hands, hair, clothing, and jewelry clear of the rope, fairlead, and drum during operation. Maintain a safe distance from the winch and rope under tension.
  • Avoid Overloading: Do not exceed the rated pulling capacity of 4500LBS.
  • Secure Vehicle: Ensure the vehicle is properly secured and braked before winching.
  • Layer Rope Evenly: Always ensure the synthetic rope spools evenly onto the drum. Uneven spooling can damage the rope and winch.
  • Avoid Shock Loads: Do not use the winch for lifting or for applications where shock loading may occur.
  • Weather Protection: The winch features a rainproof and weatherproof casing, but avoid submerging the winch in water.
  • Children and Bystanders: Keep children and bystanders away from the winching area.

  1. Identify Terminals: Locate the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on the winch motor and your vehicle's battery.
  2. Connect Power Cables: Connect the red positive cable from the winch to the positive terminal of the battery. Connect the black negative cable from the winch to the negative terminal of the battery or a suitable ground point on the vehicle chassis. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
  3. Install Signal Receiver: Connect the signal receiver for the wireless remote according to the provided wiring diagram.
  4. Reconnect Battery: Once all connections are made and secured, reconnect the vehicle's battery.

5. Operating Instructions

Familiarize yourself with the winch controls and operation before attempting to use it in a recovery situation.

5.1 Clutch Operation

The clutch allows you to manually spool out the synthetic rope quickly.

  • Engaged: Turn the clutch knob to the "Engaged" position to connect the motor to the drum for powered winching.
  • Freespool: Turn the clutch knob to the "Freespool" position to disengage the motor, allowing the rope to be pulled out manually. Warning: Do not engage or disengage the clutch while the winch is under load.

5.2 Remote Control Operation

The winch can be operated using either the wired or wireless remote control.

  • Wired Remote: Connect the wired remote to the winch's control box. Press the "IN" button to retract the rope and the "OUT" button to extend the rope.
  • Wireless Remote: Ensure the signal receiver is properly connected. The wireless remote allows operation from up to 25 meters away. Press the "IN" button to retract the rope and the "OUT" button to extend the rope.

5.3 Winching Procedure

  1. Assess the Situation: Determine the safest anchor point and path for recovery.
  2. Prepare the Winch: Disengage the clutch (freespool) and pull out enough synthetic rope to reach your anchor point.
  3. Secure the Anchor: Attach the hook securely to a suitable anchor point (e.g., tree saver strap around a tree, recovery point on another vehicle). Ensure the anchor point is strong enough to withstand the pulling force.
  4. Engage Clutch: Once the rope is attached to the anchor, engage the clutch.
  5. Begin Winching: Stand clear of the rope and winch. Use the remote control to slowly retract the rope ("IN" button). Observe the rope and connections for any issues.
  6. Spool Evenly: Guide the rope onto the drum as evenly as possible. If necessary, briefly stop winching and manually adjust the rope layers.
  7. Stop Winching: Once the recovery is complete, release the remote button.
  8. Release Tension: Carefully release tension on the rope before disconnecting from the anchor.
  9. Respool Rope: With the clutch engaged, slowly retract any remaining slack, ensuring the rope is spooled tightly and evenly under light tension.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your winch.

  • Clean Winch: After each use, especially in muddy or wet conditions, clean the winch and rope with fresh water. Allow to air dry completely.
  • Inspect Rope: Regularly inspect the synthetic rope for fraying, cuts, or other damage. Replace the rope if any damage is found.
  • Check Connections: Periodically check all electrical connections for corrosion or looseness. Clean and tighten as necessary.
  • Lubrication: Consult the manufacturer for specific lubrication requirements. Generally, internal components are pre-lubricated and sealed.
  • Storage: Store the winch in a dry, protected environment when not in use.
