5.3 4-Hour Freshness Indicator
After brewing, the coffee maker's display will show a freshness indicator, counting up to 4 hours. This helps you know how long the coffee has been on the warming plate, ensuring optimal taste.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
- Wash the carafe, carafe lid, and brew basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are typically top-rack dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended for longevity.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
6.2 Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)
Mineral deposits from water can build up over time and affect coffee maker performance. The 'Clean' indicator on your coffee maker will illuminate when descaling is recommended. To descale:
- Empty the brew basket and carafe.
- Fill the water reservoir with 4 cups of undiluted white vinegar.
- Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
- Press the 'Clean' button. The coffee maker will run a special cleaning cycle.
- After the cycle, discard the vinegar solution.
- Run 2-3 full cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
6.3 Water Filter Replacement
The water filter should be replaced approximately every 30 days or after 30 uses, whichever comes first, to maintain optimal water quality and coffee taste.
