GoolRC Flysky FS-X14S Receiver User Manual

Model: LOR9768807593644CK

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your GoolRC Flysky FS-X14S 2.4Ghz 14-channel remote control receiver. Designed for compatibility with Flysky FS-I6, NV14, FS-I6X, FS-i4, and FS-I4X Transmitters, this receiver offers reliable and stable performance for your remote-controlled applications, particularly racing drones.

The FS-X14S receiver is engineered for ultra-small size and ultra-light weight, contributing to efficient space utilization and reduced weight-bearing in your models. It supports both PPM and S.BUS data outputs, making it suitable for AFHDS 2A system remote controllers.

The package includes one Flysky Receiver, one connection cable, and this manual.

3. Setup and Binding

3.1 Power Connection

Connect the receiver to a power source within the specified voltage range of 3.5V to 8.4V. Ensure correct polarity when connecting VCC (positive) and GND (negative) terminals.

3.2 Signal Output Connection

The receiver supports PPM and S.BUS data outputs. Connect the appropriate signal output (PPM or S.BUS) to your flight controller or other compatible device. Refer to your flight controller's manual for specific wiring diagrams.

3.3 Binding Procedure

To establish communication between the receiver and your Flysky transmitter (FS-I6, NV14, FS-I6X, FS-i4, FS-I4X), follow these steps:

  1. Ensure your transmitter is powered off.
  2. Connect power to the FS-X14S receiver.
  3. Press and hold the CODE button on the receiver (refer to Figure 2.1 for location) while powering it on. The LED indicator on the receiver should begin to flash, indicating it is in binding mode.
  4. While the receiver is in binding mode, power on your Flysky transmitter and activate its binding function. The exact procedure for activating binding on your transmitter may vary; consult your transmitter's user manual.
  5. Once binding is successful, the LED on the receiver will stop flashing and remain solid, indicating a stable connection.
  6. Power off both the receiver and the transmitter, then power them back on in the normal sequence (transmitter first, then receiver) to confirm the binding.

Note: A fast and stable link-up is characteristic of this receiver once properly bound.

4. Operation

Once the receiver is successfully bound to your transmitter, it will receive control signals on the 2.4GHz frequency band across 14 channels. Ensure your transmitter is configured to output signals compatible with the receiver's PPM/S.BUS inputs.

The receiver's low channel latency (less than 20ms) ensures responsive control, which is crucial for applications like racing drones. Always perform a range check before operating your model at a distance to ensure signal integrity.

5. Maintenance

The GoolRC Flysky FS-X14S receiver is designed to be durable, but proper care will extend its lifespan and ensure consistent performance:

  • Handling: Due to its ultra-small size and light weight, handle the receiver with care to avoid damage to its delicate components and antennas.
  • Environment: Keep the receiver away from moisture, extreme temperatures, and direct sunlight.
  • Cleaning: If necessary, gently clean the receiver with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquids or solvents.
  • Antennas: Ensure the antennas are not bent or damaged, as this can affect signal reception. Position them optimally for best range.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your FS-X14S receiver, consider the following common problems and solutions:

  • Receiver not binding / LED not solid:
    • Ensure the receiver is receiving adequate power (3.5-8.4V).
    • Verify that the binding procedure (Section 3.3) is followed correctly, including pressing the CODE button while powering on.
    • Confirm your transmitter is in binding mode and is compatible with the AFHDS 2A system.
    • Try moving the transmitter closer to the receiver during the binding process.
  • Loss of signal / Intermittent connection:
    • Check the condition and positioning of the receiver antennas. Ensure they are not obstructed or damaged.
    • Verify that the transmitter's battery is fully charged.
    • Ensure there are no significant sources of 2.4GHz interference in the operating environment.
    • Confirm the receiver is securely connected to the flight controller and power source.
  • No response from controls:
    • Confirm successful binding (solid LED on receiver).
    • Check that the PPM/S.BUS output from the receiver is correctly connected to the flight controller's input.
    • Verify that the flight controller's firmware and configuration are set to receive signals via PPM or S.BUS as appropriate.

If problems persist, please refer to the support information in Section 8.
