Control Panel Layout:

  • On/Mode Button: Powers the unit on/off and switches between operating modes (DAB, FM, Bluetooth).
  • Volume - / Volume +: Adjusts the audio volume.
  • Preset - / Preset +: Navigates through preset radio stations.

5. Setup

5.1. Under-Cabinet Installation

The UR2045SI is designed for under-cabinet mounting. Follow these steps for secure installation:

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable flat surface under a kitchen cabinet, ensuring enough space for operation and ventilation. Avoid areas directly above heat sources or sinks.
  2. Use Drilling Template: Place the provided drilling template against the underside of the cabinet where you intend to mount the radio. Mark the drilling points accurately.
  3. Drill Holes: Carefully drill pilot holes at the marked positions.
  4. Attach Mounting Bracket: Secure the mounting bracket to the cabinet using the provided screws.
  5. Mount the Radio: Align the radio with the mounting bracket and slide it into place until it clicks securely. Ensure it is firmly attached.
  6. Alternative Mounting (Powerstrips): Depending on the cabinet material, the UR2045SI (weighing just over 1kg) can also be mounted using strong adhesive strips (e.g., Powerstrips, not included) without drilling. Ensure the adhesive strips are rated for the radio's weight and the surface material.

5.2. Power Connection

Connect the supplied AC power adapter to the DC IN port on the radio and then plug it into a standard wall outlet. The radio will power on automatically or enter standby mode.

5.3. Initial Setup (Time, Date, Language)

Upon first power-on, you may be prompted to set the language, time, and date. Follow the on-screen instructions and use the navigation buttons (e.g., Preset +/-) and Enter button to make selections.

  • Automatic Time Synchronization: In DAB+ mode, the radio will automatically synchronize the time and date with the broadcast signal.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power On/Off and Mode Selection

  • Press the On/Mode button to turn the radio on or off.
  • While the radio is on, press the On/Mode button repeatedly to cycle through available modes: DAB+, FM-RDS, Bluetooth.

6.2. DAB+ Radio Operation

  1. Switch to DAB+ mode using the On/Mode button.
  2. The radio will automatically scan for available DAB+ stations upon first use. To initiate a manual scan, press the AMS button.
  3. Use the Preset - / Preset + buttons to navigate through the list of available stations.
  4. Press Enter to select a station.
  5. To save a station as a preset: Tune to the desired station, press and hold the MEM button, use Preset - / Preset + to select a preset number (1-20), then press Enter to confirm.
  6. To recall a preset: Briefly press the MEM button, use Preset - / Preset + to select the preset number, then press Enter.
  7. Press the Info button to view additional information such as program type, signal strength, and scrolling text.

6.3. FM-RDS Radio Operation

  1. Switch to FM-RDS mode using the On/Mode button.
  2. To automatically scan for stations, press the AMS button. The radio will scan and save strong stations.
  3. To manually tune, press and hold Preset - / Preset + to scan for the next available station, or briefly press to fine-tune the frequency.
  4. Saving and recalling presets works similarly to DAB+ mode (refer to section 6.2).
  5. The Info button displays RDS information (station name, program type, etc.) when available.

6.4. Bluetooth Connectivity

  1. Switch to Bluetooth mode using the On/Mode button. The display will show "PAIRING" or "BLUETOOTH".
  2. On your mobile device (smartphone, tablet), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "UR2045SI" from the list of devices. Once paired, the radio will confirm the connection.
  4. You can now stream audio from your device to the radio. Use your mobile device to control playback (play/pause, skip tracks) and the radio's volume controls.
  5. Hands-Free Function: When a call comes in while connected via Bluetooth, you can answer it using the radio's controls (e.g., Enter button) and speak through the integrated microphone.

6.5. LED Work Light

  • Press the Light button to turn the LED work light on or off.
  • Some models may offer multiple brightness levels; press the Light button repeatedly to cycle through them.

6.6. Equalizer Settings

Adjust the sound profile to your preference:

  1. Press the Menu button.
  2. Navigate to "Equalizer" or "EQ" using Preset - / Preset + and press Enter.
  3. Select from presets like Flat, Rock, Classic, Jazz, Pop, Bass, or My EQ (for custom settings) using Preset - / Preset + and press Enter.

6.7. Alarm Functions

The radio features a dual alarm with a weekend function.

  1. Press the Menu button and navigate to "Alarm Settings".
  2. Select Alarm 1 or Alarm 2.
  3. Set the alarm time, source (Buzzer, DAB, FM), volume, and frequency (Daily, Weekdays, Weekends, Once).
  4. Confirm settings with Enter.

6.8. Sleep Timer

The sleep timer allows the radio to turn off automatically after a set period.

  • Press the Timer/Sleep button repeatedly to cycle through available sleep times (e.g., 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes, Off).

6.9. SDA Timer (Appointment Reminder)

This function allows you to set a reminder for an appointment.

  1. Press the Menu button and navigate to "SDA Timer".
  2. Set the desired reminder time and duration.
  3. Confirm with Enter.

6.10. Kitchen Timer

Use the kitchen timer for cooking or other timed tasks.

  1. Press the Menu button and navigate to "Kitchen Timer".
  2. Set the desired time up to 24 hours in 1-minute increments using Preset - / Preset +.
  3. Press Enter to start the timer. An audible alert will sound when the time expires.

6.11. Display Settings

Adjust the display brightness and activate the Auto Dim function.

  1. Press the Menu button and navigate to "Display Settings".
  2. Select "Brightness" to adjust the display intensity.
  3. Select "Auto Dim" to enable or disable automatic dimming of the display in low light conditions.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

  • Always unplug the radio from the power outlet before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces.
  • For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive pads.
  • Do not allow water or liquids to enter the device.
