1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and effective use of your Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount HL-X USB weapon light. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the device and retain it for future reference.

2. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The ProTac Rail Mount HL-X USB is a multi-fuel light, capable of operating with either the included Streamlight rechargeable SL-B26 USB battery or two CR123A lithium batteries (not included).

  1. Unscrew the tail cap of the flashlight by turning it counter-clockwise.
  2. Insert the battery with the positive (+) end facing towards the head of the light.
  3. Replace the tail cap by screwing it clockwise until secure.

4.2 Mounting the Light

The integrated rail clamp is designed for rapid and secure attachment to MIL-STD-1913 rails.

  1. Loosen the mounting screws on the rail clamp.
  2. Position the light onto the MIL-STD-1913 rail, ensuring the clamp jaws align with the rail slots.
  3. Tighten the mounting screws securely using an appropriate tool. Do not overtighten.

4.3 Attaching the Remote Switch (Optional)

If using the remote pressure switch:

  1. Unscrew the standard tail switch from the light.
  2. Screw the remote switch cable connector onto the light until secure.
  3. Use the included remote retaining clips and/or adhesive to secure the remote pressure pad and cable to your desired location on the weapon.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation (Tail Switch)

  • Momentary On: Press and hold the tail switch. Release to turn off.
  • Constant On: Press the tail switch fully until it clicks. Press again to turn off.

5.2 TEN-TAP Programming

The ProTac Rail Mount HL-X USB features TEN-TAP programming, allowing you to select one of three operating modes:

  • Mode 1 (Factory Default): High / Strobe / Low
  • Mode 2: High Only
  • Mode 3: Low / Medium / High

To change the operating mode:

  1. Ensure the light is in the OFF position.
  2. Tap the switch rapidly 9 times (within 0.4 seconds per tap).
  3. On the 10th tap, hold the switch down. The light will cycle through the available modes.
  4. Release the switch when the desired mode is active. The light will flash once to confirm the new setting.

5.3 Charging the SL-B26 USB Battery

The included SL-B26 USB battery can be recharged directly via a USB port.

  1. Locate the USB charging port on the SL-B26 battery.
  2. Connect the provided USB charging cord to the battery and to a powered USB port (e.g., computer, wall adapter).
  3. An indicator light on the battery will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for charged).

6. Maintenance

6.1 General Care

Keep the light clean by wiping it with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Periodically clean and lubricate the O-rings and threads with silicone grease to maintain water resistance.

6.2 Battery Care

For optimal performance, fully charge the SL-B26 USB battery before first use and after each use. If using CR123A batteries, replace both batteries simultaneously with new, high-quality cells from the same manufacturer. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.
