6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your vacuum cleaner.
6.1 Emptying the Dust Container
- Ensure the vacuum cleaner is unplugged.
- Locate the dust container release button/latch, usually on the top or front of the main unit.
- Press the button and carefully remove the dust container.
- Position the dust container over a waste bin. Open the bottom lid of the container (if applicable) or detach the top section to empty the collected dust and debris.
- Close the container securely and reattach it to the main unit until it clicks into place.
6.2 Cleaning Filters
Your vacuum cleaner is equipped with multiple filters that require regular cleaning to maintain suction power and air quality.
- Pre-Motor Filter: This filter is typically located inside or around the dust container. Remove it and tap off loose dirt. If washable, rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear. Allow to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting. Do not use a dryer or heat.
- HEPA/Exhaust Filter: This filter is usually located at the rear or side of the vacuum cleaner. Check your specific model for instructions on removal and cleaning. Some HEPA filters are washable, while others are designed for replacement only. Follow manufacturer guidelines.
Note: Never operate the vacuum cleaner without all filters properly installed and completely dry.
6.3 General Cleaning and Storage
- Wipe the exterior of the vacuum cleaner with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Check the floor brush and accessories for tangled hair or debris and remove them.
- Store the vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
