Package Contents

Upon opening your package, please verify that all the following items are included:

  • 1 x Kymate PI01 Speaker Microphone (Model: MT600-PI01)

Setup

  1. Identify the Radio Connector Port: Locate the external speaker/microphone port on your compatible ICOM two-way radio. This is typically covered by a rubber flap.
  2. Connect the Microphone: Align the 2-pin connector of the Kymate PI01 Speaker Microphone with the corresponding ports on your radio. Gently push the connector firmly into place until it is fully seated. Do not force the connection.
  3. Secure the Clip: Attach the rugged detachable swivel clip to your uniform, belt, or pocket for convenient access. Ensure the clip is securely fastened to prevent accidental detachment.
  4. Optional Earpiece Connection: If you wish to use an external earpiece (not included), plug its 3.5mm jack into the audio port located on the side of the speaker microphone unit.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On Radio: Ensure your two-way radio is powered on and set to the desired channel.
  2. Receiving Audio: Audio from the radio will now be routed through the speaker on the Kymate PI01 microphone. Adjust the radio's volume control to your preferred listening level.
  3. Transmitting (Push-to-Talk - PTT): To transmit, press and hold the large Push-to-Talk (PTT) button located on the side of the microphone unit. Speak clearly into the microphone, holding it approximately 2-5 cm (1-2 inches) from your mouth.
  4. Release PTT: Release the PTT button when you have finished speaking to return to receive mode.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the microphone's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the unit is dry before re-connecting to the radio.
  • Storage: Store the microphone in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Cable Care: Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the coiled cable to prevent internal wire damage. Do not pull the cable to disconnect the microphone from the radio; always grasp the connector itself.
  • Clip Replacement: The swivel clip is detachable and replaceable. If the clip becomes damaged, it can be unscrewed and replaced with a new one (replacement clips sold separately).
