Setup (Installation)

Compatibility Notes:
- Compatible with 2015 to 2025 Ford F-150 models.
- For 2021-2025 F-150 models, one tie-down hook may need to be removed before installation.
- Not compatible with Pro Access Tailgates.

Installation Steps:
- Prepare the Tailgate Area: Open your truck's tailgate. Identify the mounting points on the truck bed and the tailgate itself. Clean the areas if necessary.
- Apply Mylar Sheet: Place the included mylar sheet on the truck body where the mount plate will be installed to prevent scratches.
- Install Mount Plates: Attach the mount plates to the designated locations using the provided bolt and Torx wrench. Ensure they are securely fastened. Apply threadlocker to the bolt as instructed.
- Attach Shock: Connect one end of the tailgate assist shock to the upper mount plate and the other end to the lower mount plate. The shock should snap into place on the ball studs.
- Test Operation: Gently lower and raise the tailgate to confirm smooth and controlled movement.

Operating Instructions
Once installed, the tailgate assist shock provides a controlled and smooth lowering action for your truck's tailgate. This eliminates sudden drops and reduces the effort required to open the tailgate.
- To open the tailgate, simply unlatch it as usual. The assist shock will engage, allowing the tailgate to descend slowly and smoothly.
- To close the tailgate, lift it manually until it latches securely. The assist shock does not affect the closing mechanism.
