7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Common Issues and Solutions

  • Device not powering on:
    • Check the 12V DC power supply connection.
    • Ensure all power wires are correctly connected and secure.
  • Card not recognized (Invalid Card beep):
    • Ensure the card is a compatible Mifare one or EM card.
    • Verify the card has been properly added to the system using the Management Card.
    • Check for any physical obstructions or damage to the card or reader surface.
  • Door not unlocking:
    • Confirm the card is valid and recognized by the reader (green light, single beep).
    • Check the wiring to the electric lock. Ensure it is correctly connected to the OPEN/NC/COM terminals.
    • Verify the lock opening time setting (S2 terminal connection).
    • Ensure the electric lock itself is functioning correctly.
  • Management Card lost or needs reset:
    • Step 1: Power off the device.
    • Step 2: Short-circuit the OPEN (brown) and GND (black) wires on the 8P wiring port.
    • Step 3: Power on the device. It will beep for a long time and then flash quickly.
    • Step 4: Swipe a new, empty card. This card will be set as the new Management Card. The machine's red light will flash, and the buzzer will beep briefly.
    • Step 5: Power off the device. Disconnect the OPEN and GND wires.
    • Step 6: Power on the device. It should now be in normal operation, and the new Management Card is active.

8. MOD Function

The MOD function allows for specific operational modes:

  • MOD Status "1" (Default): If there is no operation within 3 minutes, the system automatically outputs the lock status.
  • MOD Status "2": The system automatically exits the card adding status. To re-enter card adding status, you must swipe the Management Card or power cycle the device.
  • MOD Status "3": In card adding status, all cards (except the Management Card) will output door opening signals. This mode is useful for temporary access for visitors or in special circumstances.

9. Data Copy Function

This function allows copying user data from one ASHATA IC Card Reader Writer (Machine A) to another (Machine B). Note that the data on Machine B will be overwritten.

9.1 Data Export (Machine A to Machine B)

  1. Wiring Connection:
    • Connect Machine A's D0 and GND terminals to Machine B's D0 and GND terminals.
    • Connect Machine A's TX and RX terminals to Machine B's TX and RX terminals.
    • Note: Machine A does not require power during this step.

Once connected, both Machine A and Machine B's red lights will flash slowly.

  2. Initiate Copy: Place Machine B's Management Card in Machine B's reader area for 5 seconds. Both machines will beep three times simultaneously. Machine A's red light will flash quickly, and Machine B's green light will flash quickly for 30 seconds, then beep once. Machine B will then beep continuously, indicating successful data copy.
  3. Complete Copy: Power off both machines. Disconnect Machine A's D0 and GND wires. The data copy is now complete.
