Setup
Powering the Radio
The Elite Traveler can be powered by four (4) AA batteries or an optional 6V AC adapter (sold separately).
- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the back of the radio. Insert four AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment securely.
- AC Adapter Connection: If using an AC adapter, plug it into the DC 6V jack located on the side of the radio.
Initial Setup
- Turning On/Off: Press the POWER button located on the top right of the radio.
- Setting Time Zone: The radio features a world time setting. Use the dial on the front panel to select your current time zone.
- Antenna Adjustment: For FM and Shortwave reception, extend the telescopic antenna fully. For AM reception, rotate the radio for optimal signal, as it uses an internal antenna.
Operating Instructions
Tuning to Stations
- Band Selection: Press the FM, AM/LW, or SW buttons to switch between frequency bands.
- Manual Tuning: Use the TUNING wheel on the side of the radio to manually adjust the frequency. The display will show the current frequency.
- Automatic Tuning Storage (ATS): Press and hold the ATS button to automatically scan and store available stations within the selected band.
- Memory Recall: Use the MEMORY button and the tuning wheel to navigate through stored stations.
Volume Control
Adjust the VOLUME wheel on the side of the radio to increase or decrease the sound level.
Using RDS (FM Only)
When tuned to an FM station that broadcasts RDS data, the radio's display will show additional information such as station call letters, program type, song title, and artist. This information will scroll across the high-contrast LCD.
Alarm and Sleep Timer
- Setting Alarm: The radio features a single alarm clock that can be set to wake you with either the radio or a buzzer. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full PDF manual for specific steps.
- Sleep Timer: Activate the sleep timer to automatically turn off the radio after a set period (e.g., 120 minutes).
