1. Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions provided in this manual before use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and sturdy footwear. A hard hat and leg protection (chaps) are also recommended.
- Work Area: Keep the work area clear of bystanders, children, and pets. Ensure good footing and balance.
- Tool Condition: Inspect the chainsaw for damage, loose parts, or wear before each use. Do not operate a damaged tool.
- Battery Safety: Use only the specified battery and charger. Do not expose batteries to water or extreme temperatures.
- Kickback Prevention: Be aware of kickback hazards. Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar. Maintain a firm grip with both hands.

3. Setup
3.1. Battery Charging and Installation
- Connect the charger to a standard electrical outlet.
- Slide the 40V lithium-ion battery into the charger. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status.
- Once fully charged, remove the battery from the charger.
- Align the charged battery with the battery port on the chainsaw and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
3.2. Bar and Chain Installation
Refer to the detailed diagrams in your printed manual for visual guidance.
- Ensure the battery is removed from the chainsaw.
- Remove the chain cover by loosening the two nuts on the side of the chainsaw.
- Carefully place the chain around the sprocket and guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges of the chain teeth face forward in the direction of rotation.
- Position the guide bar studs through the holes in the guide bar.
- Replace the chain cover and hand-tighten the nuts.
- Adjust chain tension using the side access chain tensioning screw. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand.
- Fully tighten the two nuts to secure the chain cover and guide bar.
3.3. Filling Chain Oil
The chainsaw requires bar and chain oil for proper lubrication during operation. Use only high-quality bar and chain oil.
- Locate the oil reservoir cap on the top of the chainsaw.
- Unscrew the cap and fill the reservoir with bar and chain oil.
- Replace the cap and tighten it securely to prevent leaks.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Starting the Chainsaw
- Ensure the battery is fully charged and securely installed.
- Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands, one on the front handle and one on the rear handle.
- Engage the chain brake by pushing the front handguard forward.
- Press and hold the trigger lockout button, then squeeze the trigger switch to start the motor.
- Release the chain brake by pulling the front handguard back towards the rear handle. The chain will begin to rotate.
4.2. Cutting Techniques
Always maintain a stable stance and clear surroundings. Plan your cuts to avoid kickback and ensure the safe fall of timber.
- Felling: For felling small trees, make a notch cut on the side of the tree in the direction of the desired fall, then make a felling cut from the opposite side, slightly above the notch.
- Limbing: Remove branches from a fallen tree. Work from the base of the tree towards the top, cutting smaller branches first. Be aware of branches under tension.
- Bucking: Cut a fallen log into shorter sections. Support the log to prevent pinching the guide bar.
4.3. Stopping the Chainsaw
Release the trigger switch to stop the motor and chain rotation. Engage the chain brake for added safety when moving between cuts or when the chainsaw is not actively cutting.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your chainsaw. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.
5.1. Chain Sharpening
A sharp chain is crucial for efficient and safe cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when dull.
- Use a round file of the correct diameter for your chain (refer to chain specifications).
- File each cutter tooth at the correct angle, typically 30 degrees.
- Ensure all teeth are sharpened evenly.
5.2. Guide Bar Maintenance
- Clean the guide bar groove regularly to remove sawdust and debris.
- Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear.
- Check for burrs on the guide bar rails and file them smooth if present.
5.3. Cleaning and Storage
- After each use, clean the chainsaw exterior with a damp cloth.
- Remove the chain cover and clean out any sawdust or debris from the sprocket area.
- Store the chainsaw in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children.
- Always remove the battery before storing the chainsaw for extended periods.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Chainsaw does not start | Battery not charged or installed correctly; Chain brake engaged; Trigger lockout not pressed. | Charge and install battery correctly; Disengage chain brake; Press trigger lockout before squeezing trigger. |
| Chain does not rotate | Chain brake engaged; Chain tension too tight; Obstruction. | Disengage chain brake; Adjust chain tension; Clear any obstructions. |
| Poor cutting performance | Dull chain; Incorrect chain tension; Insufficient chain oil. | Sharpen or replace chain; Adjust chain tension; Fill oil reservoir. |
| Oil leaks when stored | Common for chainsaws to weep oil; Oil cap not tightened. | Store chainsaw on a surface that can catch oil or drain oil before long-term storage; Ensure oil cap is tight. |
