4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Ensure the battery is fully charged before use. Connect the charger to a power outlet and insert the battery. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status.
  2. To install the battery, align the battery pack with the battery port on the chainsaw handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
  3. To remove the battery, press the battery release button (if present) and slide the battery out.

4.2 Chain Installation and Adjustment

Always ensure the chainsaw is turned off and the battery is removed before performing any assembly or adjustment.

  1. Loosen the side cover knob or screws and remove the side cover.
  2. Place the chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting teeth are facing the correct direction.
  3. Fit the chain and guide bar onto the chainsaw body, ensuring the chain engages with the drive sprocket.
  4. Replace the side cover and lightly tighten the knob/screws.
  5. Adjust the chain tension using the tensioning screw. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled freely around the guide bar by hand. It should not sag from the bottom of the guide bar.
  6. Once the tension is correct, fully tighten the side cover knob/screws.

5.2 Cutting Techniques

  • Always start cutting with the chain at full speed.
  • Apply light pressure. Let the chainsaw do the work.
  • Be aware of kickback. Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar.
  • For branches, cut from the top down first to prevent pinching, then finish from the bottom up.
  • Ensure the branch or wood is stable before cutting.

5.3 Brushless Motor Technology

This KIMO chainsaw is equipped with a brushless motor, offering several advantages:

  • Higher Efficiency: Brushless motors convert more energy into power, resulting in longer run times per charge.
  • Increased Durability: Without brushes to wear out, the motor has a longer lifespan and requires less maintenance.
  • Reduced Heat: Operates cooler, improving tool longevity.
  • More Power: Delivers strong and consistent power for effective cutting.

5.4 Lightweight Design

Weighing approximately 1.35 kg (with battery installed), the KIMO mini chainsaw is designed for single-handed operation, reducing fatigue during extended use. This makes it suitable for various users, including women and the elderly, offering portability and ease of use compared to wired or gasoline chainsaws.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your chainsaw. Always disconnect the battery before performing any maintenance.

  • Chain Lubrication: Regularly apply chain oil to the guide bar and chain to reduce friction and wear. Use the provided oil bottle for this purpose.
  • Chain Sharpening: A dull chain will not cut efficiently and can cause kickback. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when necessary. Refer to specific chain sharpening instructions or consult a professional.
  • Cleaning: After each use, clean wood chips, sawdust, and debris from the guide bar, chain, and motor housing. Use a brush or compressed air. Do not use water directly on electrical components.
  • Inspect Components: Periodically check the chain, guide bar, and other components for damage, wear, or loose parts. Replace any damaged parts immediately.

7. Storage

When not in use, store the chainsaw in a safe, dry place, out of reach of children.

  • Remove the battery pack from the chainsaw before storage.
  • Clean the tool thoroughly.
  • Store the chainsaw in its original case or a suitable protective cover to prevent damage.
  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KIMO mini chainsaw, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Chainsaw does not start:
    • Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly inserted.
    • Confirm both the safety lock button and the operating switch are pressed simultaneously.
    • Check for any obstructions around the chain or motor.
  • Poor cutting performance:
    • The chain may be dull and requires sharpening or replacement.
    • Check chain tension; it might be too loose or too tight.
    • Ensure the chain is properly lubricated.
  • Chainsaw stops during operation:
    • The battery might be depleted. Replace with a charged battery.
    • The tool might be overheating. Allow it to cool down before resuming use.
    • An obstruction might be jamming the chain. Remove the battery and clear any debris.

If problems persist after following these steps, please contact KIMO customer support.
