Introduction
The Samson Expedition XP208w is a 200-watt all-in-one portable PA system designed for various sound reinforcement needs. This system features an integrated rechargeable battery, offering up to 20 hours of continuous operation. It includes a wireless microphone, Bluetooth streaming capabilities, and a 4-channel mixer. Setup
1. Initial Charging
Before first use, fully charge the internal rechargeable battery. Connect the supplied power cable to the XP208w and a standard AC outlet. The charging indicator will illuminate. A full charge can take several hours. The system can operate for up to 20 hours on a single charge.
2. Placement
Place the XP208w on a stable, flat surface or mount it on a standard speaker pole using the integrated pole mount. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

3. Connecting the Wireless Microphone
- Locate the Samson XPD2 USB receiver and the wireless handheld microphone.
- Insert the XPD2 USB receiver into the dedicated USB port on the rear panel of the XP208w. If needed, use the supplied USB extension cable for optimal placement of the receiver.
- Turn on the wireless handheld microphone. The indicator light on both the microphone and the USB receiver should illuminate, indicating a successful connection.

Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
Press and hold the Power button located on the rear panel to turn the unit on or off. The power indicator LED will light up when the unit is on.
2. Mixer Controls
The XP208w features a 4-channel mixer with individual volume controls for each channel. It also includes Bass and Treble EQ controls that affect all channels globally.
- Channel 1 & 2 (Mic/Line Inputs): These channels accept XLR or 1/4-inch inputs for microphones or line-level devices. Adjust individual volume using the corresponding gain knobs.
- Channel 3 (Line Input): This channel accepts 1/4-inch or 1/8-inch (3.5mm) line-level inputs.
- Channel 4 (Bluetooth/USB Wireless): This channel is dedicated to Bluetooth audio streaming and the XPD2 USB Wireless System.
- Bass & Treble: Adjust these knobs to shape the overall tone of the audio output.
- Reverb: A variable reverb control is available for the mic/wireless inputs to add spatial effects.
- Master Volume: Controls the overall output level of the PA system.
3. Bluetooth Connectivity
- Ensure the XP208w is powered on.
- Activate Bluetooth on your audio device (smartphone, tablet, etc.).
- Press the Bluetooth pairing button on the XP208w's rear panel. The Bluetooth indicator LED will flash, indicating it's in pairing mode.
- On your device, select "Samson XP208w" from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
- Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator LED will glow solid. You can now stream audio wirelessly to the XP208w.
Note: For optimal performance, avoid placing Bluetooth devices too close to the wireless microphone receiver to prevent potential interference.
4. Voiceover Control (Ducking)
The Voiceover control automatically lowers the volume of background music when a microphone signal is detected, making announcements clearer. To activate, press the Voiceover button on the rear panel.
5. Daisy-Chaining Multiple Systems
The XP208w includes a Line Output, allowing you to connect and daisy-chain multiple XP208w units or other powered speakers for expanded sound coverage. Connect a 1/4-inch cable from the Line Output of the first XP208w to a line input on the second unit.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing the unit for an extended period, ensure the battery is charged to approximately 50-70% and recharge every few months.
- Storage: Store the XP208w in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation grilles are free from dust and debris to prevent overheating.
