3. Setup and Installation
The CATA CI 712 gas stove is designed as a freestanding cooktop but can also be used as a built-in hob. Professional installation is highly recommended to ensure safety and proper functionality.
3.1 Unpacking
- Carefully remove the appliance from its packaging.
- Inspect for any damage during transit. Do not install if damaged.
- Ensure all components listed in the packing list are present.
3.2 Placement
- Place the stove on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface.
- Ensure adequate clearance from combustible materials.
- If using as a built-in hob, the cutout width should be approximately 70.5 cm.
3.3 Gas Connection
Connect the gas supply line to the appliance inlet. Use appropriate gas-rated connectors and ensure all connections are leak-free. A qualified gas technician must perform this step.
3.4 Electrical Connection
Plug the appliance into a properly grounded electrical outlet. This connection powers the automatic electric ignition system. Ensure the voltage and frequency match the appliance's requirements.
4. Operating Instructions
Your CATA CI 712 gas stove features easy-to-use metallic knobs for controlling the burners and automatic ignition.
4.1 Lighting a Burner
- Place your cookware on the desired burner grate.
- Push down the corresponding control knob and rotate it counter-clockwise to the 'High' flame position. You will hear a clicking sound as the automatic igniter sparks.
- Once the burner lights, continue to hold the knob down for a few seconds to allow the thermocouple (if present) to heat up and ensure the flame remains lit.
- Release the knob. If the flame extinguishes, repeat steps 2-3.
4.2 Adjusting the Flame
After the burner is lit, you can adjust the flame intensity by rotating the control knob between the 'High' and 'Low' positions. The knobs rotate 360 degrees for precise flame adjustment.
4.3 Turning Off a Burner
To turn off a burner, rotate the control knob clockwise until it clicks into the 'Off' position.
5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your gas stove.
5.1 Daily Cleaning
- Allow the stove to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the tempered glass surface with a soft cloth and a mild detergent or glass cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the glass.
- Remove spills immediately to prevent staining.
5.2 Burner and Grate Cleaning
- Remove the enameled grates and burner caps/rings. These can be washed with warm soapy water. For stubborn stains, a non-abrasive scrub pad can be used.
- Ensure all burner parts are completely dry before reassembling to prevent ignition issues.
- Clean the burner ports with a small brush or needle to ensure unobstructed gas flow.
5.3 Control Knobs
The metallic control knobs can be pulled off for cleaning. Wash them with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly before reattaching.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your CATA CI 712 gas stove, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Burner not lighting:
- Check if the gas supply is turned on.
- Ensure the appliance is plugged in and there is power to the outlet for the electric ignition.
- Verify that the burner caps and rings are correctly seated and clean.
- Hold the knob down for a few extra seconds after ignition.
- Uneven flame:
- Clean the burner ports to remove any food debris or blockages.
- Ensure the burner caps are correctly positioned.
- Gas smell:
- Immediately turn off all burners and the main gas supply.
- Open windows for ventilation.
