2. Setup
2.1. Connections
The Numark Scratch offers comprehensive connectivity options to suit any DJ setup:

- Channel Inputs: Unbalanced line/phono inputs for connecting turntables or media players.

2.2. Software Installation
The Numark Scratch includes a full version of Serato DJ Pro and the complete DVS Expansion Pack. This allows immediate control of Serato DJ Pro using NoiseMap Control Tone vinyl or CDs (sold separately).
- Connect the Numark Scratch to your computer via the USB port.
- Download and install Serato DJ Pro from the official Serato website.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to activate your Serato DJ Pro license and DVS Expansion Pack.
3. Operating
3.1. Controls Overview
The top panel of the Numark Scratch is intuitively laid out for quick access to all essential controls.

3.2. Channel Controls
- Input Gain: Adjusts the input level for each channel.
- 3-Band EQ: Provides control over high, mid, and low frequencies for sound shaping.
- High/Low-Pass Filter: Hardware-based filter that works with both Serato and analog sources.
- Channel Faders: Controls the volume of each channel.
- Headphone Cue: Assigns a deck to your headphone mix for pre-listening.
- Line/Phono/PC Switch: Selects between Serato control, analog turntables, or media players for each channel.
3.3. FX Section
The mixer features six direct access software FX buttons for quick application of effects:
- FX Selectors: Choose from various Serato effects like Delay, Reverb, Echo, Flanger, V. Echo, and Phaser.

- Hamster Switch: Allows for quick reversal of the crossfader direction for different scratch styles.

Four performance pads per deck offer versatile control for creative mixing:
- Hot Cue Triggering: Instantly jump to pre-set cue points in your track.
- Rolls: Create rhythmic rolls for build-ups and quick beat stabs.
- Sampler Control: Trigger samples for adding unique elements to your mix.
3.6. Instant Loop Encoder
The instant loop encoder simplifies looping within Serato DJ Pro:
- Activate Loop: Press the encoder down to activate a loop at the default parameters (typically 4 bars).
- Extend Loop: Turn the knob to the right to extend the loop length.
- Shorten Loop: Turn the knob to the left to shorten the loop length.
3.7. Output Controls
- Master Output Volume: Controls the overall volume of the main mix.
- Booth Volume Control: Independent volume control for the booth output.
4. Maintenance
