5. Operation
The iLIVING Shutter Exhaust Fan offers both automatic and manual control options through its Thermospeed Controller.
5.1. Connecting the Controller
Before plugging the fan into a power outlet, connect the fan's power cable to the Thermospeed Controller. Then, plug the controller's power cord into a standard 120V electrical outlet.
5.2. Thermostat Control (Auto Mode)
The built-in thermostat allows the fan to operate automatically based on temperature. Set the desired temperature range (32-130°F) on the controller. The fan will activate when the ambient temperature exceeds the set point and deactivate when it falls below.
5.3. Fan Speed Control
The fan features 3-speed settings. These can be adjusted using the pull chain located on the fan unit or through the controller, depending on the model. The controller allows for precise speed adjustments.
5.4. Automatic Shutters
The fan's shutters open automatically when the fan is operating and close when the fan is off. This mechanism helps to prevent drafts, insects, and debris from entering the ventilated space when the fan is not in use.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your iLIVING Shutter Exhaust Fan, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Fan Does Not Turn On:
- Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet.
- Ensure the Thermospeed Controller is properly connected to the fan and receiving power.
- Verify the thermostat setting. In auto mode, the fan will only turn on if the ambient temperature exceeds the set point. Try bypassing the thermostat or setting it to a lower temperature to test.
- Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses.
- Fan Runs Continuously:
- In auto mode, ensure the ambient temperature is above the set thermostat temperature.
- If in manual mode, turn the fan off using the pull chain or controller.
- Shutters Do Not Open/Close Properly:
- Check for any obstructions (debris, dust) preventing the shutters from moving freely. Clean as necessary.
- Ensure the fan is receiving adequate power for full operation.
- Unusual Noise or Vibration:
- Ensure the fan is securely mounted and all screws are tightened.
- Check for any loose objects inside the fan housing or on the blades.
- Clean the fan blades and grille to remove any imbalance caused by debris buildup.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact customer support for further assistance.
