1. Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons. Read all instructions carefully before operating the Westinghouse Air Fryer WKAF12.

  • Do not immerse: Never immerse the main unit housing, which contains electrical components and heating elements, in water or rinse under the tap.

Components:

  • Main Unit Housing: Made of PP plastic, houses the heating element and fan.

3. Setup and First Use

3.1 Unpacking

  1. Remove all packaging materials, stickers, and labels from the appliance.
  2. Remove the frying basket and drawer from the main unit.

3.2 Cleaning Before First Use

  1. Wash the frying basket and drawer thoroughly with hot water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. These parts are dishwasher safe.
  2. Wipe the inside and outside of the main unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
  3. Ensure all parts are completely dry before use.

3.3 Placement

  1. Place the air fryer on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface.
  2. Ensure there is at least 10 cm of free space on the back and sides, and above the appliance, to allow for proper air circulation.
  3. Do not place the appliance against a wall or other appliances.

3.4 Power Connection

  1. Plug the power cord into a grounded wall outlet. The red Power ON light will illuminate.
  2. The appliance is now ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

The Westinghouse Air Fryer WKAF12 uses rapid air circulation to cook food, offering a healthier alternative to deep frying.

4.1 Preheating (Optional)

For best results, especially with certain foods, preheating is recommended.

  1. Ensure the frying basket is empty and securely placed in the drawer.
  2. Turn the temperature knob to the desired cooking temperature (e.g., 180°C).
  3. Turn the timer knob to 3-5 minutes. The green Heating ON light will illuminate.
  4. Once the timer rings, the air fryer is preheated.

4.2 Cooking Process

  1. Carefully pull out the drawer by the cool-touch handle.
  2. Place your ingredients into the frying basket. Do not exceed the MAX fill line or overfill to ensure even cooking.
  3. Slide the drawer back into the air fryer until it clicks into place.
  4. Turn the temperature knob to the desired temperature (60-200°C).
  5. Turn the timer knob to the required cooking time (up to 60 minutes). The red Power ON light and green Heating ON light will illuminate.
  6. During cooking, the green Heating ON light will cycle on and off as the air fryer maintains the set temperature.
  7. Some foods may require shaking or tossing halfway through cooking. To do this, carefully pull out the drawer, shake the basket, and then slide it back in. The air fryer will resume cooking.
  8. When the timer rings, cooking is complete. The appliance will automatically shut off.
  9. Carefully pull out the drawer and place it on a heat-resistant surface.
  10. Remove the cooked food using tongs or by detaching the basket from the drawer and emptying it.
  11. Unplug the appliance from the wall outlet.

4.3 Recommended Uses

The WKAF12 Air Fryer is suitable for:

  • Frying: For crispy results with less oil.
  • Roasting: Ideal for vegetables and smaller cuts of meat.
  • Baking: Suitable for small cakes, muffins, or pastries.
  • Dehydrating: Can be used for simple dehydration tasks at lower temperatures.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your air fryer.

  1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning.
  2. Frying Basket and Drawer: The detachable frying basket and drawer are non-stick coated and dishwasher safe. Alternatively, wash them with hot water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge.
  3. Interior: Wipe the interior of the appliance with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads.
  4. Exterior: Clean the exterior with a damp cloth.
  5. Heating Element: Use a cleaning brush to remove any food residue from the heating element.
  6. Drying: Ensure all parts are thoroughly dry before reassembling or storing the appliance.

5.1 Storage

Store the cleaned and dried air fryer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your air fryer, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
