4. Safety Information

Before beginning any installation or maintenance, always prioritize safety. Failure to follow safety guidelines can result in injury or damage to property.

  • Wear Safety Equipment: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves.
  • Disconnect Power: Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and all accessories are turned off. Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Terminal Insulation: Use the provided rear cover to insulate terminals against potential circuit shorts.
  • Negative Side Installation: It is advisable to install the switch to disconnect the negative side of the battery. Installing on the positive side may still allow voltage to run through the switch when off, potentially leading to shorts.
  • Clearance: Ensure sufficient clearance between the installed switch and any surrounding components, especially the vehicle's hood, to prevent accidental contact or damage.

5. Setup and Installation

This battery disconnect switch is designed for straightforward installation. Refer to the included printed instruction manual for detailed wiring diagrams and specific steps for single or dual battery setups.

General Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare for Installation: Ensure all safety precautions from Section 4 are followed.
  2. Choose Mounting Location: Select a secure and accessible location for the switch, ensuring adequate clearance for operation and wiring.
  3. Mount the Switch: Use the provided mounting screws to securely attach the switch to the chosen surface.
  4. Connect Wiring: Connect the battery cables to the switch terminals using the provided nuts and washers. Ensure connections are tight and secure. Refer to the wiring diagrams for correct positive and negative connections.
  5. Install Covers: Attach the rear cover to insulate the terminals and the side covers for additional protection.
  6. Test Functionality: After installation, test the switch by turning it to the 'OFF' position and verifying that power to the electrical system is interrupted. Then, turn it to the 'ON' position and confirm power is restored.

6. Operating Instructions

The Master Battery Switch features a simple 2-position rotary actuator for 'ON' and 'OFF' functions.

  • To Turn ON: Rotate the red knob to the 'ON' position. This connects the battery to the electrical system, allowing power flow.
  • To Turn OFF: Rotate the red knob to the 'OFF' position. This disconnects the battery from the electrical system, cutting off power.

Always ensure the switch is in the desired position before operating the vehicle or leaving it unattended for extended periods.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and reliable operation of your battery switch.

  • Inspect Connections: Periodically check all terminal connections to ensure they remain tight and free from corrosion. Loose connections can lead to poor performance or overheating.
  • Clean Terminals: If corrosion is present, carefully disconnect the battery (following safety guidelines) and clean the terminals and connections using a wire brush and battery terminal cleaner.
  • Check Housing: Inspect the switch housing for any signs of damage or cracks. Replace the switch if significant damage is observed.
  • Verify Covers: Ensure the rear and side covers are securely in place to maintain insulation and protection.

8. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your battery switch, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power When ON:
    • Ensure the switch is fully rotated to the 'ON' position.
    • Check all battery cable connections for tightness and corrosion.
    • Verify the battery itself is charged and functional.
    • Inspect the wiring for any breaks or damage.
  • Power Remains ON When OFF:
    • Ensure the switch is fully rotated to the 'OFF' position.
    • Confirm the switch was installed on the correct battery terminal (negative side recommended).
    • Check for any alternative power paths or faulty wiring that might bypass the switch.

If problems persist after performing these checks, contact customer support for further assistance.
