The Shark IQ Robot Self-Empty XL is designed to provide convenient, whole-home cleaning with powerful suction and intelligent navigation. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your robot vacuum to ensure optimal performance.

Setup

Unboxing and Initial Placement

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. The package includes: (1) Shark IQ Robot, (1) Self-empty base, (2) Side brushes, (1) Filter, & (1) BotBoundary Strips.

Place the self-empty base in a central location with a strong Wi-Fi signal, away from obstacles and direct sunlight. Ensure there is at least 3 feet of clear space in front of the base and 1.5 feet on either side.

Charging the Robot

Connect the self-empty base to a power outlet. Place the robot onto the base, ensuring the charging contacts align. The robot will begin charging automatically. Allow the robot to fully charge before its first use.

App and Home Mapping Setup

Download the SharkClean app from your device's app store. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your robot to your home Wi-Fi network. The app will guide you through the initial home mapping process, which uses IQ Navigation to create a detailed map of your home for efficient cleaning.

Using BotBoundary Strips

Use the included BotBoundary Strips to create no-go zones for your robot, preventing it from entering specific areas or getting stuck. Place the strips flat on the floor in areas you wish to restrict.

Operating Your Robot Vacuum

Starting a Cleaning Cycle

You can start a cleaning cycle in several ways:

  • Press the 'Clean' button on the robot.
  • Use the SharkClean app to schedule whole-home cleanings or target specific rooms.
  • Use voice control with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant (e.g., "Alexa, have Shark clean my living room").

Intelligent Navigation and Cleaning Modes

The robot uses IQ Navigation for systematic row-by-row cleaning, ensuring complete home coverage. Through the SharkClean app, you can select specific rooms to clean immediately or schedule cleanings for your entire home.

Recharge and Resume

If the robot's battery runs low during a cleaning cycle, it will automatically return to its base to recharge. Once sufficiently charged, it will resume cleaning from where it left off to complete the job.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance of your Shark IQ Robot. Always turn off the robot and unplug the base before performing any maintenance.

Emptying the Self-Empty Base

The bagless self-empty base holds up to 45 days of dirt and debris. To empty, simply remove the dust bin from the base and dispose of the contents into a trash can. No disposal bags are required.

Cleaning the Self-Cleaning Brushroll

The self-cleaning brushroll is designed to minimize hair wrap. Periodically check the brushroll for any tangled hair or debris and remove as necessary. The brushroll is engineered to pick up more hair and is anti-hair wrap.

Cleaning Filters and Side Brushes

The robot uses a non-washable filter. Tap the filter clean over a trash can to remove loose debris. Replace the filter as recommended in the full user guide. Inspect and clean the side brushes regularly, removing any tangled hair or debris. Replace worn brushes as needed.

Troubleshooting

If your Shark IQ Robot encounters an issue, consult the following common solutions:

  • Robot not charging: Ensure the self-empty base is plugged in and the robot's charging contacts are clean and properly aligned with the base.
  • Robot getting stuck: Clear obstacles from the cleaning path. Use BotBoundary Strips to block off problem areas.
  • Poor suction: Empty the dust bin and clean the filter. Check the brushroll for any blockages or tangled debris.
  • Mapping issues: Ensure good lighting during mapping runs. Clear clutter from the floor. If issues persist, try re-mapping your home through the SharkClean app.
  • Unusual noises: Check the brushroll and wheels for any foreign objects or debris that may be causing the noise.
