Operating Instructions
1. Selecting a Channel
Your DXFRS220 walkie-talkies operate on 22 FRS channels. To communicate with another radio, both devices must be set to the same channel.
- With the radio powered on, press the Mode button (often the same as the Power button, or a dedicated 'M' button) to enter channel selection mode.
- Use the Up (+) or Down (-) buttons to cycle through the available channels (1-22).
- Once the desired channel is displayed, press the Mode button again or wait a few seconds for the selection to be confirmed.
2. Transmitting and Receiving
To communicate:
- To Transmit (Talk): Press and hold the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button (typically a large button on the side). Speak clearly into the microphone, holding the radio approximately 2-3 inches from your mouth. Release the PTT button when you finish speaking.
- To Receive (Listen): Ensure the PTT button is not pressed. The radio will automatically receive transmissions on the selected channel.
3. Roger Beep Tone
The Roger Beep tone is an audible signal transmitted when you release the PTT button. This tone confirms to other users that your transmission has ended and the channel is clear for them to speak.
4. Adjusting Volume
Use the Up (+) and Down (-) buttons to adjust the listening volume to a comfortable level.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning
To maintain optimal performance and appearance:
- Wipe the radio with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed when not charging to maintain water resistance.
2. Battery Care
To prolong the life of your Li-polymer battery:
- Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
- Store the radios in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
- Recharge the battery at least once every three months if stored.
3. Water Resistance
The DXFRS220 is rated IPX4 water resistant, meaning it is protected against splashing water. It is not designed for submersion. Always ensure the charging port cover is sealed to maintain water resistance.
