3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your solar panel kit:

1. Mounting the Solar Panel: The solar panel features pre-drilled holes for fast mounting. Use the included Z mounting brackets and hardware to secure the panel to your desired surface (e.g., RV roof, cabin, boat). Ensure the panel is positioned to receive maximum direct sunlight throughout the day.

2. Connecting the Charge Controller:
   • Step 1: Connect to Battery: First, connect the 30A charge controller to your 12V battery using the provided red and black solar cables. Ensure correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative). This step is crucial to prevent damage to the controller.
   • Step 2: Connect to Solar Panel: Next, connect the solar panel to the charge controller. The panel comes with MC4 connectors for easy plug-and-play connection.
   • Step 3: Connect to Load (Optional): If you have a power inverter or other DC loads, connect them to the load terminals on the charge controller.

3. Charge Controller Features: The 30A charge controller includes a PWM function to prevent overcharge, overvoltage, discharge, short circuit, and reversed polarity, ensuring your battery is fully protected. It also features USB ports for charging small devices.

4. System Expansion: You can expand your system up to a maximum of 260W for a 12V system or 520W for a 24V system by adding more compatible solar panels.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the Topsolar Solar Panel Kit operates automatically. The charge controller manages the power flow from the solar panel to the battery, preventing overcharging and ensuring optimal battery health. The display on the charge controller provides real-time information on battery voltage, charging current, and load status.

• Battery Compatibility: The charge controller is designed to work with GEL, SEALED, and FLOODED (Wet Cell) batteries. Ensure your battery type is correctly set on the controller if applicable (refer to controller's specific user guide for settings).
• USB Charging: Use the integrated USB ports on the charge controller to power or charge compatible USB devices.

• No Power Output:
  • Ensure the solar panel is receiving direct sunlight.

  • Verify correct polarity of all connections.

• Low Charging Current:
  • Clean the solar panel surface.
  • Ensure no shading on the panel.
