1. Important Safety Information

• General Safety: Use this unit only in the manner intended by the manufacturer. If you have questions, contact the manufacturer.
• Installation: Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction codes and standards.
• Ducting: Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel-burning equipment to prevent back-drafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer's guideline and safety standards such as those published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.
• Fire Hazard: To reduce the risk of a range top grease fire, never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or medium settings.
• Cleaning: Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate on fan or filter.
• Electrical: Always switch off power at the service panel and lock the service disconnecting means to prevent power from being switched on accidentally before servicing or cleaning the unit.

3. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and safety of your range hood. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional.

3.1 Pre-Installation Checklist:

• Verify all components are present as listed in the "Components Included" section.
• Ensure the installation area meets local building codes and electrical requirements.
• Confirm adequate clearance above the cooking surface (minimum 24 inches, maximum 36 inches recommended).
• Prepare the necessary tools and materials for mounting and ducting.

3.2 Mounting the Range Hood:

The range hood is designed for wall-mount installation. The supplied duct cover extensions are suitable for ceiling heights up to 9 feet. For higher ceilings, optional accessories are available.

1. Carefully mark the mounting points on the wall according to the provided template or dimensional drawing (Figure 2.2).
2. Install the mounting bracket securely to the wall using appropriate fasteners for your wall type.
3. Lift the range hood and carefully align it with the wall bracket, securing it in place.

3.3 Ducting and Electrical Connection:

Connect the exhaust ductwork to the range hood's outlet. Ensure all connections are sealed to prevent air leaks. Connect the range hood to a grounded electrical outlet as per local electrical codes.

• The hood can be installed to vent to the outdoors or configured for recirculating operation with the included charcoal filter (UXCF91).
• For ducted installations, ensure the ductwork is as straight and short as possible for optimal airflow.
• For recirculating installations, ensure the charcoal filter is properly installed.

4. Operating Instructions

Your GE Profile range hood offers intuitive controls for fan speed, lighting, and advanced features like Chef Connect.

4.1 Electronic Backlit Controls:

The electronic backlit controls are located on the front panel of the range hood.

• Power On/Off: Press the power button to turn the unit on or off.
• Fan Speed: Select from four fan speeds (Low, Medium, High, Boost) to adjust ventilation power.
• Lighting: Press the light button to turn the LED lights on/off. Hold the button to dim or brighten the lights.

4.2 Remote Control:

A remote control is included for convenient operation from anywhere in the kitchen.

• The remote control duplicates the functions of the electronic backlit controls, allowing you to adjust fan speed and lighting remotely.

4.3 Chef Connect:

Chef Connect allows your range hood to communicate wirelessly with compatible GE, GE Profile, and Café ranges.

• Automatic Activation: When a range element is turned on, the vent and surface lights can automatically activate.
• Clock Synchronization: The vent hood and range clocks can be synchronized for convenience.
• Refer to your range's instruction manual for detailed pairing instructions with Chef Connect.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your range hood.

5.1 Cleaning Filters:

The grease filters are dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning.

• Remove the filters by pulling the release tabs.
• Place the filters in your dishwasher or wash them by hand with hot water and detergent.
• Ensure filters are completely dry before reinstalling.
• For recirculating models, replace the charcoal filter (UXCF91) every 6-12 months, or more frequently depending on cooking habits.

5.2 Cleaning Surfaces:

Clean the stainless steel surfaces with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

5.3 Replacing LED Light Bulbs:

The range hood uses LED light bulbs. If a bulb needs replacement, ensure the power is off before proceeding.

• Replace with a new LED bulb of the same type and wattage.
