5. Basic Operation

5.1. Powering On/Off

The dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when connected to your vehicle's power and the engine starts. It will power off automatically when the engine is turned off.

5.2. Loop Recording

The dash cam records video in continuous loops. When the memory card is full, the oldest unlocked files will be overwritten automatically. You can set the loop recording duration in the camera settings.

5.3. Emergency Recording (G-sensor)

The built-in G-sensor detects sudden movements or impacts. When triggered, the current video segment is automatically locked to prevent it from being overwritten by loop recording. You can also manually lock a video file by pressing the emergency button on the camera or using the optional Bluetooth remote control.

6. Advanced Features

6.1. Parking Mode

The A129 Pro Duo offers three parking modes for continuous surveillance when your vehicle is parked:

  • Auto Event Detection: The camera will automatically start recording once an event (e.g., impact or motion) is detected. It records 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after the event.
  • Time Lapse: Records video continuously at a low frame rate (e.g., 1/2/3/5/10/15 fps), compressing hours of footage into minutes.
  • Low Bitrate Recording: Records continuously at a low bitrate, saving storage space while maintaining video quality.

A hardwire kit (sold separately) is recommended for continuous power to enable parking mode.

6.2. Wi-Fi Connectivity

The built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) allows you to connect your smartphone to the dash cam via the VIOFO app. This enables you to view live footage, download recorded videos, change settings, and update firmware wirelessly. The 5GHz Wi-Fi offers faster transfer speeds.

8. Firmware Updates

VIOFO regularly releases firmware updates to improve performance and add new features. You can download the latest firmware from the official VIOFO website and update it via the MicroSD card or the VIOFO app.
